RACIST HAWKER AT ALEXANDER FOOD VILLAGE REFUSES TO SERVE INDIAN CUSTOMERS

0
0

Dear All Singapore Stuff Editors,

This is the stall in Alexander Food Village. I went to have my dinner with my family on Sunday the 6th of March 2016. I was in the queue to order my food. When it came to my turn, the order taker bypassed me and went to the guy behind me to take his order. When the man behind me mentioned that it was my turn and not his, the order taker remarked in Mandarin to ignore me.

At this I looked at her and asked is she interested to serve me and what was the issue. At this instance the guy cooking in the stall shouted that they are not keen to serve and asked me to get lost. I was totally at a lost of words. I walked away and ordered food from another stall.

Not happy at this treatment I kept looking at the stall. When another Indian guy went to order food the stall owners again totally ignored him and he too walked away. It's plain simple that they were racist and refused sevice to non Chinese. I am a born and bred Singaporean and this kind of treatment is unacceptable. Explaining to my two 5 year old was not easy. My wife who's Chinese was also there.

I want an apology from them to me and my family and to other non Chinese they have turned away. I want justice and to have them stop their racism.

IF A WHITE HORSE DIED BY NEGLIGENCE, WOULD A DIFFERENT TUNE BE SUNG?

0
0

An NSF died while in service through the negligence of SAF officers. In any democratic country, the government would have punished those responsible, issued an apology and paid fair compensation to the victim’s family. This would have permitted closure for the victim’s family and all parties to move on.

But under PAP’s pseudo democracy, all the government does is engage in half-truths to sweep its mistakes under the carpet. Perhaps only MINDEF is able to move on because a loophole in the law has allowed the government to save hundreds of thousands in compensation. Perhaps this is KPI related or maybe it’s about face saving.

In SAF’s clarification, it stated that “the two officers were summarily tried in 2013 for negligent performance of lawful order or duty, found guilty, and punished according to military law”.

Cpt Chia was one of the officers “punished” in 2013 for his negligent act in 2012. Within a year of the “punishment”, he was promoted to Major. No wonder Chia said he hoped Dominique’s family would find closure and “move on with their lives”. We can see that Chia did not only move on, he has moved up in his career, thanks to all his supportive superiors who somehow turned a blind eye to his conviction by the military court. The moral decay under the PAP should be of concern to Singaporeans: punishment = promotion when you happen to be on PAP’s side.

Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen has now weighed in on the issue by announcing that his ministry should waive the $22,000 legal costs to be paid by Dominque’s family. Ng is still avoiding the issue of apology and just compensation. Ng made many motherhood statements but since he did not address the issue, we should not expect any closure for Dominique’s family.

Mindef is trying to save face and money but this is penny wise, pound foolish: it will take a very long time to regain Singaporeans’ trust after its reputation has been self damaged.

I have a son serving in the SCDF and a younger one enlisting next year. How am I to tell them to give their all after having witnessed SAF covering its own ass? Aren’t there many parents having the same thought?

Those who have gone through grief should be able to fully empathise with Dominique’s parents: any million dollar compensation wouldn’t have made a difference to their immeasurable loss. The closure which his mum has been seeking is something she deserves and is not unreasonable.

The PAP government must do the “right thing” and not apologise only at 2359 when its loss of power seems imminent.

If a white horse had died, wouldn’t Minister Ng have demanded accountability by having not only both officers hentak kaki for life but their superiors as well? Wouldn’t the servile press highlight SAF’s negligence day and night as well as the immense loss to the family of the dead white horse? Wouldn’t Minister Ng seek justice if his loved one had died due to others’ negligence?

For those who are still unable to empathise with Dominique’s family, you should touch your heart and ask yourself: Would you have made the same callous comments if a white horse had died? Would you even dare to utter your hope that the family of the dead white horse will move on with their lives knowing full well the issue of negligence has yet to be resolved?

ENCOUNTERING A MENTALLY UNSOUND MALAY RACIST ON THE MRT

0

<Credits: Kentridgecommon / Nabilah Shihab>

The peak hour train at Jurong East was crowded as usual. I stood in front of a well-dressed lady in her 40s sitting at the priority seat. Upon seeing me, she promptly crossed her legs and kicked her shoes against my legs. On a normal day, I would speak up and educate such an individual on the virtues of courtesy. Lucky for her, I had just made a vow before bed yesterday to become a more tolerant person. I just smiled and thought to myself, maybe it was an accident.

The lady began talking on her mobile phone and I let my mind wander. Before long, my thoughts were interrupted by the lady’s rant.

“A lot of Chinese girls so stupid marry Malay men.”

It was strangely refreshing to hear a racist rant in person in Singapore. In the past I had only seen them in the comments section on Facebook. As a final year Sociology undergraduate, I was keen on hearing her perspective on the issues of race and inter-racial marriages. Also, being the child of a Malay-Chinese mother and an Arab father, miscegenation was of personal relevance.

In between rants of how her Chinese friends were the CEO of Singapore Airlines and secretary to the Prime Minister’s office, she complained about how poor Malay men were trying to prey on her and other Chinese girls.

At that moment it occurred to me: she was the infamous Catherine Tan known on social media for her videos where she aggressively expressed her dissatisfaction with Malays and Muslims. It also occured to me that there was probably no one on the other end of the line. She was believed to be mentally unsound.

MAN TRESPASS ON NTU STUDENT'S HOSTEL ROOM, LIFTS UP HER BLANKET AS SHE SLEPT

It was 6.50am on a Thursday morning last month when Lim Jia Xin, 20, woke up to find a stranger lifting her blanket. The man — yet to be identified — then bolted out of her room on the sixth storey of Hall of Residence 8, said the first-year student from the School of Biological Sciences.

“I was in a state of shock,” said Lim. “I’d been sleeping so I could not instantly process what happened or what I could do.” It took about 10 minutes for the severity of the incident to dawn on her before she called Campus Security, who arrived at 7.15am.

The following week, Hall 8 Senior Hall Fellow Lam Yeng Ming sent out a mass email reminding residents to lock their doors and look out for suspicious characters. Sending reminders like this is a routine practice across all halls on the university campus, according to the Hall Office.

But Lim is not the only victim with a story to share. A 21-year-old student from Hall of Residence 1, who declined to be named, had a similar experience. A stranger had entered her room last September while she was asleep.

Since the victims had gone to sleep without locking their doors in both incidents, the Office of Housing and Auxiliary Services (HAS) classified them as cases of trespass.

AH BENG BUYS 30 PACKS OF BEEHOON TO THROW ON FLOOR AFTER HAWKER SAY HE LOOKS POOR

According to local Chinese media, a tattooed man was queuing up for economical bee hoon at Block 17 Boon Keng Road Hawker when his queue was cut by someone else. The stall assistant handed a packet of beehoon to someone else that was behind him in the queue.

Witnesses say, when the tattooed man questioned the assistant why she allowed someone else to cut his queue, she curtly replied that he looked like he had no money.

In his rage, the tattooed man ordered 30 packets of bee hoon and threw all the beehoon on the floor in front of the stall.

Moral of the story: Do not mess with tattooed ah bengs, they are rich, they have money, do not judge a person by his tattoos

Yesterday at Jurong West Street 52, an unidentified person jumped from the nearby HDB block and landed on the roof of a parked Mercedes Benz. The strong impact crushed the vehicle's roof and it's windscreen and windows were all shattered.

Police soon arrived at the scene and sealed up the location.

Netizens who saw the damage were shocked at the extent of damage and wondered if there was insurance coverage for such freak accidents.

PAP MP DAVID ONG RESIGNS AS BUKIT BATOK MP DUE TO PERSONAL REASONS, BY-ELECTION TO BE HELD

0
0

In a shocking announcement made on Saturday (12 March 2016), PAP politician and MP for Bukit Batok SMC David Ong announced his resignation from the PAP and from his duties as a Member of Parliament. He cited undisclosed "personal reasons" for his sudden resignation just 6 months after the recent General Election.

The Prime Minister's Office has announced that a by-election would be held for the single seat constituency in due time.

The Bukit Batok SMC single seat ward saw a three way fight between SDP's Sadasivam Veriyah, PAP's David Ong and Independent new citizen candidate Samir Salim Neji.

During GE2015, David Ong won by 73% of the total vote share, well above the national average of 69.9%.

David Ong wrote in his resignation to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong:

"On 12 March 2016, I tendered my resignation as a Member of Parliament to the Speaker. I hereby also tender my resignation as a member of the People's Action Party with immediate effect. I am doing so for personal reasons, and with a heavy heart.

I am grateful to my Bukit Batok residents for the opportunity to serve them as their MP, and for the strong support they have given me. I have done my best to perform my responsibilities, and deeply apologise for having to step down prematurely."

PAP MUST COME CLEAN OVER SHOCK RESIGNATION, "PERSONAL REASONS" IS A LOUSY EXCUSE

0
0

Dear ASS Editors,

Shocking news that PAP MP David Ong for Bukit Batok SMC has resigned suddenly. What's more puzzling is the reason given by David Ong for his resignation. He states that he has to resign for 'personal reasons' and that's it? Is this the responsible politics we expect from the PAP? What about the majority of Bukit Batok residents who gave him the mandate? Is he abandoning them for personal reasons, is this how a responsible man behaves? Where is the transparency and accountability?

In PM Lee's response to David Ong's resignation letter, he replied "Thank you for your letter. I DEEPLY REGRET that I MUST accept your resignation". What is the reason thats so personal that PM Lee MUST accept his resignation from both his MP and PAP membership?

Singaporeans especially the residents of Bukit Batok deserve to know why MP Ong has chosen to resign instead of fulfiling his promises to the people. He should be held accountable and be transparent, upfront with his constituents. Isn't this the hallmark of a true PAP politician?

'Personal reasons' is not a good enough reason to turn your back on Singaporeans after we gave you a resounding victory during GE2015. Now the least you must do is to come clean and tell us why you really quit.

PROOF THAT HDB FLATS WERE "SUBSIDIZED" IN THE PAST BUT NOT NOW

0
0

I refer to the article “Why HDB flat owners are in no hurry to sell” (Straits Times, Mar 12).

My favourite insider ES sent me two very interesting media reports which may give us a better perspective on HDB pricing policies in the 1980s.

Rush to buy flats as building costs rise?

According to the article “8,950 HDB flats sold out in rush to beat price increase” (Straits Times, Jun 15, 1980) – “Last year, building costs of a three-room flat rose by 34 per cent from $17,750 to $23,800.

Total costs covering land and financing costs, added up to $32,800.

“Real” 44% subsidy on 3-room flats?

But the board sold the flat for only $18,200 because the government gave  a subsidy of 44 per cent or $14,600 to each flat.

A four-room flat is subsidised by the government by 33 per cent and a five-room by 27 per cent.”

Transparency in HDB prices?

You can see from the above that the pricing of HDB flats was more transparent in the 1980s– where one could see the costs and the subsidies.

Now, there is less transparency as the total costs of flats are not known, and the so called “subsidy” may actually be a “market subsidy pricing” – i.e. a discount relative to  resale prices.

So, in the early years of the HDB– it was arguably, a “real” subsidy compared to now.

In this connection, according to the article “Prices of HDB flats up 20 pc” (Straits Times, Jun 24, 1980) – “Last year, the board’s building costs for public housing went up by over 30 per cent due largely to increases in the prices of building materials , arising from the oil crisis”.

HDB deficits?

Perhaps thanks to ES– we now know the real meaning of HDB pricing, costs and deficits (profits?).

TIME FOR DR CHEE SOON JUAN TO CONTEST BUKIT BATOK BY-ELECTION & GIVE PAP A GOOD FIGHT?

0
0

Dear ASS,

I do not care why David Ong resigned, I do not want to know why he resign. For all we know, he has come down with serious illness and all he wants now is peace and quiet to recuperate. Speculation of such is pointless, it is smarter to think forward.

This time is ripe and the opportunity has come. I think it is time for Dr Chee Soon Juan to return to Parliament after his years in the political wilderness. Since there will be a bt election, the by election effect will be in full swing. Singaporeans in Bukit Batok SMC can vote without fear of the PAP losing power and allow more alternate voices in Parliament.

Dr Chee's fiery performances during GE2015 has given the 30 percent of Singaporeans hope that one day we will have a multi-party Government with true checks and balances. This is a perfect opportunity for Dr Chee Soon Juan to step up and capture Bukit Batok from the PAP. This is the time for Dr Chee to prove his mantle and put his words into actions. Since SDP contested in Bukit Batok SMC, it makes perfect sense for Dr Chee to stand.

Time for Dr Chee to be the people's choice in Bukit Batok and give the PAP the tongue lashing they deserve in Parliament. Come this by-election, vote for Dr Chee, vote for the future, vote for a more democratic Singapore!

Majulah Singapura.

PAP MP DAVID ONG CUMS CLEAN: STEPS DOWN DUE TO AFFAIR

0
0

"I feel that it's the right thing to do to step down for the best interests of the party, my constituents and family," David Ong told mainstream media.

"There is personal indiscretion on my part which I deeply regret. I would appreciate if you can give me and my family the privacy to heal and rebuild," the now former PAP MP said.

Till now, there is no picture of who the woman or man in the affair is. There is also no clarification if the third party is a PAP member or a grassroots member or even a civil servant.

GIVE BT BATOK RESIDENTS A REAL CHOICE: SDP SHOULD GIVE WAY TO WP

0
0

Dear Editor,

As a resident of Bukit Batok SMC I have seen the hardworking David Ong on many occasions making his rounds at kopitiams on weekends when I was having my breakfast with my family. He's a sincere man and he interacts with ease, very down to earth, not like some PAP MPs that I have come across, very smart, many degrees but cannot connect with common people like us. From friends and relatives who live in the area, they also say he is very nice and helpful during meet-the-people sessions.

But he makan outside and kena caught, so I guess he did the honourable by quitting the parliament and his political party. Sometimes I feel in this day and age, this is the private affair of the individual and if it doesn't affect his work and performance then I feel it is ok.

Now many people are asking SDP to come back and contest the by-election. But before they do that, we really got to ask, is that good for the development of democratic politics in Singapore. The PAP is very strong in Bukit Batok SMC. In GE 2015, David Ong polled 73% and the SDP candidate only got 26.4%. Do you think even if Chee Soon Juan come he can double their score of 26.4% and win the seat? The answer is a very likely NO. The people in Bukit Batok don't really have a good impression of SDP and their policies are not really good for sandwiched class like us.

We need more opposition seats in parliament to challenge the one-party rule and the only party who can do this is the Workers' Party. They have the right branding and right leaders to attract Singaporeans to vote for them. So the right thing to do for SDP is to give way to WP and prevent a 3 corner fight. If SDP is not willing to do so, I would still prefer having a WP option on my ballot sheet.

THE WOMAN IN DAVID ONG'S AFFAIR IS A PAP BUKIT BATOK MEMBER

0
0

Today it was suddenly announced that PAP MP for Bukit Batok SMC David Ong was quitting his seat and the party for personal reason. It was later revealed that he had to do so because of "personal indiscretion".

According to Zaobao, the woman that had an affair with David Ong is one Wendy Lim, 41, a logistics senior executive and also a Bukit Batok PAP branch activist. For the past year, Wendy had been regularly uploading many photos of her activities in PAP Bukit Batok, including several with David Ong.

Wendy is an active member of the PAP. During last year's general elections, Wendy, together with other supporters, was known to have drawn up caricatures of David Ong and brought them to the nomination centre.

At 630pm today, the photos of Wendy and David were still publicly available on Wendy's Facebook profile but they were subsequently privatised. A Zaobao reporter tried to call her but to no avail. She was also not at her condominium home.

When photos of Wendy were made known to netizens, several commented tongue-in-cheek that she was "lau chio" (old but pretty) for her age and at least ex-PAP MP David did not ruin his own career for an old grassroots auntie.

Update: It was said that the affair surfaced because the husband lodged a complaint, presumably with the PAP.

Lau Chu Nan was full of praise for his idol, "When I look at him, I feel so inspired, I feel I got chance, so old liao still can find this type of action."

Another smitten forummer Boey Hor Nee confessed that he will be wearing more white shirt and white pants to go the wet market and other community events. "Back then when Michael Palmer kena scandal I still don't believe, but now I am converted. If David this type of jialat face still can to play with Wendy, then confirm must be the power of wearing white and white."

Over at the kopitiams around the island, many half-drunk uncles are also actively discussing this topic over beer and with their tiger aunties. Must ask him share his secret moves leh."

Uncle's Pek drinking buddy who only just arrived at the kopitiam and only had a sip of beer was more observant. "So they happening where huh? Inside the PAP office after the meet the people session? Respect sia!"

BEWARE OF CONMEN WHO RENT CAR TO SAY THEY WANT TO DRIVE UBER

0
0

I am the manager of a car leasing company and would like to post this to warn my friends and colleagues in this industry.

On 29th Jan 2016, OTHMAN BIN WAHID, approached me to rent a toyota camry for him to earn an income. I informed Othman bin wahid that the deposit is $1000, however he pleaded with me to help him and he needed a car to drive for uber to earn an income 1st then he will pay the deposit to my company. I agreed as i trusted him and sympathised with his situation and allowedhim to collect the car after paying the 1st week rent in advance. Othman bin wahid then proceeded to rush me for the car and i assisted him.

On 15th feb 2016, Othman introduced his friend, AZHAR BIN MOHD ZAILAN to rent a HOnda Civic for him to work as a Uber driver as well. Again, Azhar bin mohd zailan could not afford to pay for the deposit and pleaded with me to trust him that he will pay the deposit after 2 weeks when he take his salary from Uber. I decided to offer him the same arrangement as Othman.

After collection of the car, both Othman and Azhar did not make a single payment. We continued to try to collect payment for the next one month and on 1st March 2016, both of themblocked my hp number and refused to answer my calls and text messages to return the car.

I had no choice but to make a police report, however the police responded to me that no criminal offence was committed and they will not pursue the case. I proceeded to appeal to an MP and she graciously acceded to my requestto informthe police to assist us, however the police rejected us yet again.

I made a check with Uber and found out both Othman bin wahid and Azhar bin mohd zailan were not Uber registered drivers. This signalled an intention to cheat and scam. A further check also revealed Othman bin wahid was not staying at his registered house on his IC. A check with a repo company also revealed that this is not Azhar's 1st time and he has hidden cars from other leasing companies before..Just like how a rat hide it's food in it's hole.

The Camry has since been recovered, however the Honda Civic remains at large.

I am writing this post not to seek help to recover the vehicle. It is just to spread awareness to colleagues and friends working in the same industry. I have attached their photos so pls beware of these 2 scumbags / con man who might be targeting your company next and get away scot free.

Thank You.

DPM THARMAN: DAVID ONG IS A REALLY HARDWORKING MP, WEEKENDS, WEEKDAYS & NIGHTS SPENT IN BUKIT BATOK

<Facebook post by Douglas Chow>

Read what DPM Tharman said about MP David Ong... ' So this is a set back. Residents will be disappointed. David Ong has worked extremely hard. I mean, he’s a really hard-working MP, he spends 4-5 times a week in Bukit Batok, weekends, weekdays, nights...”

Hmm..David also has a full time job. Apparently he is RedDot Publishing's Managing Director and is also the Patron of the Singapore Brain Tumor Society and Advisor to Singapore Eng Choon Clan.

David appears to be very busy indeed. And he still has time to have an affair.

Perhaps a round of applause for outstanding time management.
