Blogger Roy Ngerng Yi Ling had already submitted his papers to join the Reform Party "in the middle of this year" - according to some insiders, he is widely expected to represent the party in this upcoming General Elections.

Explaining his decision to join the Reform Party, Roy said that although he had been actively involved in the activities of various opposition parties, he found that the Reform Party and him shared the closest views on burning socio-political issues such as the Central Provident Fund (CPF). He had also been in touch with Kenneth Jeyaretnam, secretary-general of the Reform Party.

In a blog post posted yesterday, Roy also said that if he were to run for election, it would not be for “fame, power or money”.

“I want nothing of that,” he said. “I want to be able to enter government, to debate about these issues and allow policies to be passed to protect Singaporeans. This is all I want.”

Roy's supporters have wished him well on his Facebook and thrown their support behind the Singaporean hero is best known for his protests against the incumbent PAP government over CPF and freedom of speech.
