WE MUST DEMAND HIGH STANDARDS OF THE PAP BEFORE THEY DEMAND FROM US

Since it's close to NDP, national and patriotic discussions would inevitably arise especially with the looming general election. Very often, in an attempt to silence any criticism of the government and leaders, people such as PAP IBs will use a JFK quote: "ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country".

Please do NOT let them cheat you with that quote and make you keep quiet.

This quote from former US president John F. Kennedy's inaugural speech had been abused and misused over the years, not just in Singapore. If anybody uses this quote against you, please take note what came after that line.

Quote:
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you."

In other words, whatever sacrifices leaders expect us to make, they should sacrifice first. Whatever standards they want to hold us to, they should measure themselves against it and we should be asking them tough questions if they do not.

This National Day and in the coming elections, please do not let IBs and blind PAP supporters quote JFK out of context to silence any valid criticism you have.

Despite our leaders allowing her to be overrun by foreigners, this is still our country, let us at least be able to defend her with words and votes.
