DISTURBED PARENT: WHY ONLY LENIENT WARNING METED TO GUILTY UPSKIRT PERVERT?

Dear Editors,

I saw disturbing news that a pervert who was caught in the act taking upskirt photos of a lady was let off with a simple warning after 10 months of investigation by the Singapore police. What kind of message are we sending out to these sick minded criminals? This is a matter of grave importance to the safety of the ladies in Singapore and no quarter should be given to these sickos.

If you see the past cases that appeared in the news, most of them were sent to jail for their sick acts. Even those that manage to escape jail term were slapped with the punitive fine. How can this person who was caught in the act just be let off with a simple warning?

Maybe this pervert only did it once and hence the light punishment but will it deter him from committing the crime again? What if others who have the same perverse thoughts see this? What kind of message does this light punishment send to them? The punishment is light for such offence, we can afford to do it until they get caught? First time offenders can escape with a slap on the wrist? 

I have a 13 year old school going daughter and these many cases of upskirt perverts scare the shit out of me. I always remind my daughter to be careful and pay attention to those standing behind her on the escalators. I really hope the police will take firm and tough action on such predators and not go soft of these perverts. If they are suffering from some mental disorder, then send them for mandatory help and let them recover and not pose a danger to innocent girls out there. 

Please send the right message to any potential perverts that such acts will not be tolerated in Singapore. Our women and girls deserve a safe environment to live in. Please give us parents a peace of mind.
