DOCTOR IN COURT FOR DRUGGING & MOLESTING MALE PATIENT

49 year-old cosmetic surgeon Dr Tan Kok Leong was taken to court today for molesting a male liposuction patient 3 times. 2 of the incidents involved him administering sedatives to his patient before taking photos and touching the patient's genitals.

Dr Tan will face 1 charge for outraging the modesty of a 33-year-old Malaysian doctor, who cannot be named due to a gag order, and 2 charges of administering drugs so that he could molest him.

According to court proceedings, Dr Tan first touched the fellow doctor's genitals during a liposuction procedure on his waist at Life Source Medical Centre at Novena Medical Centre on 6th June 2013.

On 5th July that same year, he performed another liposuction on the patient at the clinic, and informed the patient that he had booked a room at the nearby Oasia Hotel for the patient too rest in afterwards.

In an agreed statement of facts, Deputy Public Prosecutor Victor Lim said that when the pair got there, Tan told his patient he would inject him with the sleeping drug Dormicum and painkiller Rosiden.

Tan then allegedly pulled down the other doctor's shorts and took photographs of his genitals.

Both men stayed at the hotel the next day, when Tan allegedly repeated the two offences.

In Dr Tan's defence, Dr Tan's lawyers Edmon Pereira and Vickie Tan said that the male patient could not have been molested during the 6th June liposuction procedure as his girlfriend, also a doctor, was present along with another doctor.

They added that the patient was fully awake during the procedure and had consented to the photos being taken at the hotel.

Tan was a partner at Life Source Medical Practice, which has since closed, and was licensed to perform liposuction.

If convicted, Dr Tan faces a maximum of 2 years jail, a fine and caning, or both. For administering stupefying drugs, he could face a maximum of 10 years jail and caning,
