7 of the people who helped to free a South Korean man, who had been pinned under a truck at a traffic junction in July, were rewarded for their heroism with a 5-day trip to South Korea.

To recap, on 22nd July, 35 year-old Kim Sung Mo was hit by a trailer at the junction of Boon Keng Road and Bendemeer Road and got trapped under the truck. As the man screamed for help, 30 members of the public helped the South Korean by pushing and lifting the truck off the stricken man. Their act of heroism was captured on video and went viral on the internet.

Mr Kim escaped with a leg fracture and underwent surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

As a reward, the Korean Association in Singapore hosted the heroes to lunch on Tuesday and were given certificates as well as a trip to South Korea, sponsored by Asiana Airlines. The trip includes flight tickets, accommodation and tour expenses.

Mr Noh Chong Hyun, president of the Korean Association, said that the lunch was organised to express his gratitude to those who had helped.
