The People’s Action Party (PAP) officially unveiled its candidates for Marine Parade Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in the upcoming General Elections.
The newcomer to the 5-man GRC is Mr Edwin Tong, who was formerly a Member of Parliament (MP) for Moulmein-Kallang GRC, which has since been removed under new electoral boundaries. He replaces Ms Tin Pei Ling, who will contest the MacPherson singe member constituency.
He will join existing PAP team members Minister for Social and Family Development Mr Tan Chuan Jin, Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, and members of parliament Fatimah Lateef and Seah Kian Peng.
In the 2011 GE, the PAP beat a National Solidarity Party (NSP) team led by Nicole Seah, claiming victory over Marine Parade GRC with a 56.64% majority vote. This year, however, they will likely face the Workers’ Party and the National Solidarity Party in a multi-cornered fight.
