21 year-old Aloysius Goh Jun Yuan was sentenced to 27 months of probation today after he pleaded guilty to using criminal force to outrage the modesty of 14 year-old boys in February last year. In both occasions, he had grabbed the boys' groins at Tanah Merah MRT station without any explanation.
The 1st victim was molested twice in 2 weeks and lodged a police report after the second incident. He identified Goh through photographs.
The 2nd victim, who is a friend and schoolmate of the first victim, had managed to grab onto Goh's arm after the molestation and demanded an explanation. Goh did not respond and ran away. After telling his teacher and parents about the molest, the victim's mother lodged a police report. He too identified Goh through photographs.
The prosecution and the defence came to an agreement over the sentencing, with the prosecution saying that they would not object to Goh undergoing a "vigorous program" of probation.
According to his social media profiles, Goh is already under the watch of Teen Challenge (Singapore), a center for youth-at-risk, where he undergoes strict supervision. He is also a long time member of City Harvest Church.
District Judge Lim Keng Yeow told Goh that ordinarily, the nature of offences he had committed “should result in imprisonment”, and that probation is “an unusual sentence that will be meted out”.
On probation, Goh will have to abide by a curfew, perform 180 hours of community service, be treated by a psychiatrist and is not allowed to possess or use any mobile device capable of downloading or running third-party applications.
His mother agreed to be bonded S$5,000 to ensure her son’s good behaviour.
