Dear Editors,
I was on the way to work this morning when a friend messaged me about this company that has issued a stop work order today due to the haze at https://www.facebook.com/mootees.sg/posts/1042800862429060. The haze looks very bad but the PSI was only 173 this morning according to NEA, so I was quite amazed that that company has done that.
When I checked their Facebook page, I was quite amazed that they have in fact issued stop work orders since last week. So far, I have not heard of any other company doing the same. I have also not heard the MOM issuing any stop work orders.
I am not sure if MooTees staffs work outdoors like me, but I am very upset and demoralised that my company is not issuing stop work orders for outdoors staffs like me when the PSI hits the very unhealthy zone. In fact, even though I have been coughing for the past few days due to the haze, my boss expects me to work over time. In fact, he even forbids us from wearing masks because he said that would interfere with our work, and he doesn’t even issue us any masks.
Why aren’t more companies issuing stop work orders? Why isn’t the MOM minister encouraging them to do so?
