Workers' Party (WP) Member of Parliament (MP) Pritam Singh will take over MP Sylvia Lim as chairman of the Aljunied-Hougang Town Council (AHTC).
In a statement released today, AHTC informed residents that the MPs for the Aljunied GRC and Hougang SMC constituencies had decided to continue with the merged town of Aljunied and Hougang, which would be managed by AHTC. The town was gazetted today.
The WP has decided to retain its key appointment holders to lead the Town Council management. However, to develop its leaders and for the sake of job rotation, the WP decided that MP Pritam Singh will take over from MP Sylvia Lim as chairman of AHTC, while she and MP Png Eng Huat will become AHTC's Vice-Chairmen.
The WP has promised to continue to serve the residents to the best of their ability in managing the Town Council. They hope to create a fresh, clean and healthy living environment for all, and promote goodwill and social cohesion to build a strong community.
