Dear Editors,
I notice nowadays food companies like Macs are using a lot of JB bikers. I think there is a need for the government to look into this. 1. Is it legal to use foreign bikes for such commercial use? 2. The different culture of riding tends to cause more accidents which can be avoided. I complained to Macs before but nothing was done. 3. Deprive another Singaporean of the job? maybe maybe not. The 3:1 exchange rate difference is a big carrot for big companies to use our neighbour's cheap work force.
I prove it to you, numbers dont lie. A Singaporean delivery rider earn $4.50 per hr.. a Malaysian rider will earn same as what Singaporean did.. But Singaporean own bike need to pay maintenance, roadtax , petrol, insurance and the stupid ten years COE..
For the Malaysian rider, they no need pay 10 year COE, pump cheap Malaysian petrol before they turn up for work, cheaper maintenance in Malaysia. Confirm win local Singaporean riders.
