A mother and her daughter were on their way home one evening but almost met with a devastating tragedy.
At about 8PM on Tuesday night, 33 year-old Debbie, her daughter, her sister-in-law and her children were walking along Admiralty Drive, a stretch of road that is close to Canberra Primary School, when suddenly, her sister-in-law realized that her handphone was missing.
While searching for her sister-in-law's handphone, Debbie released her daughter's hand for a moment to check if the phone was in her handbag.
But that moment was all it took for her young daughter to dash onto the road and into the path of an oncoming bus. The girl was struck before anyone could react.
Miraculously, the girl received only light injuries despite being hit. She was discharged from the nearby hospital with scratches and bruising on the same day.
