Dear ASS Editors,
I caught my child smoking e-cigarettes yesterday. Ecigs are illegal in Singapore and i have no idea how my son is able to get one. After much probing, he told me that they are easy to get especially on the internet. One of the easiest method is through Carousell,an online market.
I do not believe him as carousell is based in singapore and would not allow the sale of them. He proof to me by searching on a vague term called the 'juice'. The results were shocking, refills of ecig are displayed for sale. Next, he searched on e cigarette, which showed the sale of ecig on sale. I am utterly disappointed with carousell for not regulating the sale of illegal items.
How can this be allowed to happen since your market is governed under the singapore law? are you promoting the sale of illegal substance in singapore then? Parents pls be mindful when your child surfs the internet.
Any person who is convicted of an offence under section 16 is liable to a fine not exceeding $5,000 for a first offence and a fine not exceeding $10,000 for a second or subsequent offence and any e-cigarettes imported will be seized and confiscated.
