Many were afraid to vote for opposition because we have no track record, so they prefer to vote for the known incumbent. The incumbent, threaten by the opposition presence, start to try to win the voters back, saying sorry, making amends and suddenly being very nice. Once they win over the voters and opposition are no longer a threat, it is back to square one.
What lesson can we draw from here?
Voters are not risk takers, despite knowing that the incumbent failed them in many ways, they refuse to get out of their comfort zone and give themselves a shot at a unknown future (it might be happy / sad, no guarantee), instead they chose to continue their current unhappiness and suffering.
Not knowing, the opposition who has much to offer, has by then left, heartbroken from the wait to change their mind. Someday, the voters will thank the opposition, for if not for us, the incumbent wont see the threat of losing the voters and would not have work so hard to try to win them back.
