Being the nice guys on the internet, the editorial team at A.S.S. welcomes all feedback from all our readers. We even welcome the occasional PAP troll. However, some emails that we receive from netizens are just too hilarious. That is why we have decided to share this unedited feedback sent to us by an English "professor", Tony Ronald, who felt that the standard of English in most of our reader submitted articles is too poor.

Read his feedback here.

as a university English professor, English and educated at one of the best English Universities plus having worked 20 years in Singapore I must say the English in your article is impossible to understand, mostly rubbish, certainly not English. I showed it to class of my students who really could not understand it. I do not know who writes it but they obviously cannot, repeat cannot, speak English at all.Even this form is full of mistakes for example what does 'allowed file types' mean Allowed is the past tense of to allow! You should say something like "all standard file formats are accepted'. What code is in the image? Means nothing!! Are you human is a childish remark!

I really think readers will not be tempted to communicate further with you. Apart from having a big laugh with my students none of us are going to contact you!!

regards

Dr Tony Ronald.

UPDATE: Just for laughs, we have decided to edit poor Tony's email, who was probably too busy teaching his standard of English to properly edit his own email.

Dear Editor for All Singapore Stuff, [Don't forget your salutations in your letters!]

As an English Language professor at the university level and a native English speaker, [See, doesn't that flow much better now?] having been educated at one of the best English universities plus having worked 20 years in Singapore, I must say the English in your article is impossible to understand. Mostly rubbish, certainly not English, old boy. [Remember Tony, paragraphing is important!]

I showed your article to my class of students who really could not understand it. [You can't say "it" without referencing a noun or subject at first, Tony.] I do not know who wrote them, but they obviously cannot, and I repeat, cannot, [In the words of my primary school English teacher, "NO REPETITIONS"] write in English at all.

Even this contact form [http://tell.allsingaporestuff.com] is full of mistakes! For example, what does "allowed file types" mean? "Allowed" is the past tense of "allow"? [Thanks Captain Obvious!] You should say something like "all standard file formats are accepted" [Unfortunately, not all standard file formats are accepted, which is why the need to label the types of files allowed.] What code is in the image captcha? It means nothing! "Are you human" is a childish remark!

I really think readers will not be tempted to communicate further with you. Apart from having a big laugh with my students, none of us are going to contact you!

Regards,

Dr Tony Ronald

Much better now? You're welcome, Tony.
