Singapore's Public Prosecutor asked for stiff sentences against the 6 City Harvest leaders accused of misusing $50 million in church funds. It recommended that church founder Kong Hee be sentenced to 11 to 12 years imprisonment for his crimes.

Apart from Kong Hee, the prosecution also recommended similar deterrent jail sentences for deputy senior pastor Tan Ye Peng, CHC finance manager Serina Wee and CHC fund manager Chew Eng Han.

The other accused John Lam, a finance committee member is facing 8 to 9 years in jail. Finance manager Sharon Tan faces the lightest sentence of 5 to 6 years imprisonment.

The six CHC leaders will return to Court on Friday (20 Nov 2015) to make their oral submissions on sentencing. Kong Hee and Chew Eng Han were the first accused to make known their intentions to appeal the guilty sentence.

In the written judgement, Presiding Judge See Kee Oon pointed to Kong Hee as the brains behind the scandal and had "acted consciously and dishonestly".
