Dear A.S.S,
I came across this FB post by this Indian woman who said that her husband will be posted to Singapore for work and she wants to enrol her 6 year old toddler in one of Singapore's top public school run by the government.
If she thinks that she is so high class and of a higher caste that she cannot send her toddler to a normal school then she can just send him to a international school. Are ordinary primary schools so beneath her precious son that he cannot study there?
All these Indian FTs just keep having this self-entitled issues. What makes her think her son deserves to be in a top school when our system is a based on meritocracy and not on caste? Does she think she can just waltz into MOE to ask for a good school when local parents like us have to work so hard to invest in good tuition for our kids, make changes to our housing locations and even volunteer our time and money just to make sure that our own kids have a place in a decent school?
It will be totally unfair for us if MOE just gives her toddler a place in a good school just because she is a foreigner. I will be totally disappointed in our government because this will be concrete proof that they value and treat foreigners better than locals, and also because it means that they don't really believe in their own slogan that every school is a good school.
Angry SG mum
