According to the Singapore SEA Games Organizing Committee (SINGSOC), the committee is working with police and other authorities in the investigations of an alleged ticket scalping offense committed by a dishonest Myanmar merchant, who sold tickets for the SEA Games 2015 Myanmar-Thailand football match at almost twice the original price.
Speaking to the media, Mr Toh Boon Yi, Chief, Corporate and Community Outreach at SINGSOC, said it had sold 2050 tickets to a "Golden Myanmar Group" at a discount as part of a group purchase. However, upon realizing that SINGSOC had been duped and that the merchant intended to sell the tickets at full price, SINGSOC then withdrew the discount and charged the standard price of S$20.
“We now understand that tickets were sold at S$25 with the difference allegedly donated to a charitable cause. SINGSOC is reviewing the matter with the relevant authorities,” said Mr Toh.
