Dear A.S.S,
I want to complain about Glory Home Services, after bad reviews online, they have since changed their name to Glory Cleaning Services. Their own website only posts good testimonials.
Firstly, the helpers are not really trained, if you are lucky you get someone who knows what they are doing. Otherwise, you are training them in your own time because the agency is clearly just an introducer, they do not train, e.g. do not hang wet things on wooden chairs; and e.g. dust the room before cleaning the bedsheets; and NOT change the sheets first then dust the room; and it's funny, she does not wipe the dust, she just dusted it back into the air; no wonder i have a sneezing fit.
Secondly, their helpers do not really have employee welfare, e.g. no medical, no insurance, no leave without pay etc. And you thought you would feel glad to pay nearly $19-20/hr rate, thinking well, you pay for what you get right? I thought the helpers were getting the full amount because when I first engaged Glory Cleaning Services, they claim they only take the agency fees but the helper takes home the rest of the pay. But not really, I hear they take quite a cut, at least $5/hr off their pay. So they really have some unhappy workers really. Because clients expect a clean house for paying reasonable money, but their workers do not get any at all. And they even come come when they are sick, becuase well, otherwise no pay at all.
Thirdly, Glory Cleaning Services are not really as charitable as they portray themselves online to be, winning awards and stuff. You feel bad for the helper's situation and maybe recommend some friends to them to help clean their houses, but no, Glory wants also a cut off their bit less than $20/ hr pay, causing one of them to quit Glory Cleaning, and therefore quitting on me. Of course their workers are not very happy. Come on, give the helpers more of their money, do not fight with them over engaging another person
Fourthly, when you end up having certain issues with helper like, petty theft in the house, DO NOT expect the agency to act as the middle man, true that people do discuss helper behaviours directly, but when you need an escalation, do not expect anything from them.
Finally, the business owners are not very fair. As and when they like, they will change the agreed terms of the initial contract. Initially, before engaging them, we have asked for a quote on a certain number of work days and number of hours and even mentioning we need 5 pcs of ironing a week, based on their quote we agreed and engaged their services.
So when they ran out of replacements (because their helper decides to earn the full $19-$20 herself from her own found recommendations from my other friends), they will suddenly, in his words, "suggest increase the number of hours / day" because of ironing. And then because you are not willing to suddenly pay a different price, you will back out yourself, and save them the problem of finding a replacement for you.
Hello? It is not as if we suddenly require ironing, we have required it since the beginning of time. And then force you to a corner to have to disengage their services, and end up having to pay another agency fee to another company.
For your mental health and trouble-free, DO NOT engage Glory Cleaning Services, suggest paying your money, more or less, does not matter
I ended up having to source and pay another agency fee somewhere else.
