At about 1PM yesterday, a 47 year-old Singaporean man ignored warnings to stop his car and drove through Tuas checkpoint uninterrupted before he was finally arrested at Pioneer Road North. The man claims that he misunderstood instructions from officers.
The man allegedly continued driving for approximately 8KM before finally being apprehended by police officers, who were alerted to his breach.
This comes in the wake several poor responses from the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority to past incidences of checkpoint breaches. On 17th January last year,a Malaysian woman drove past immigration by tailgating a car in front of her and was not arrested until 4 days later when she was discovered trying to enter a sensitive government installation.
