Hi there, I need your advice.
I have been living in Singapore for quite some time now. I have been working with a Fortune 500 company after I graduated from one of the universities in SG. Time flies. It has been 8 years since I got my citizenship.
When I first came to Singapore to study, my mother accompanied me. After about 1.5 years, my mother decided to return to China to care for my grandmother who had taken ill.
My mother loved my grandmother (her mother) very much. Last month, my maternal grandmother fell seriously ill. I took a flight back but I was too late. Her passing affected my mother greatly. To me, my mother was a filial daughter who took care of my late grandmother patiently and with great tenderness.
It's been 11 years since I have lived in Singapore and be part of the daily grind. I have a group of close SG friends. Work isn't too bad, it puts food on the table.
Now that my grandma has passed, I really feel like sending my parents over over so that I can fulfill my duties as a daughter and take care of them. However, my father has to work for a few more years in China before I can send him over here. I have thought of sending my mother over first. However, my father is incapable of taking care of himself. If I send for my mother, we would be worried about him living alone.
Life is so unpredictable. Who knows what will happen tomorrow?
It may seem a little silly, but I am considering to return to China for a couple of years so I can take care of them. Maybe, I can start a family too.
However, my job industry is too niche and I don't know if I will be employable back home.
I just want to be able to care for my parents before it is too late.
