Zhang Quanfu a 31 year old PRC national was convicted and sentenced to 28 weeks jail for threatening to make Parliament House explode and to kill Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's entire family.
Zhang make the threats to police while he was drunk after downing at least 5 bottles of bear at a restaurant in Geylang Lorong 27 on 19 July 2015. The prosecution sought a 6 months jail term for Zhang as extensive police resources were used to increase security measures at sensitive locations in Singapore.
After making his threats from his friend's mobile phone, several police officers were sent to Geylang where he was arrested while still on the line with officers who tried to keep him engaged on the phone.
Zhang Quanfu pleaded for leniency during the trial saying that he was deeply remorseful and that he wished to be reunited with and support his family back in China.
