Dear Editors,
It is frustrating that pregnant women love to write in and complain when people do not give up seats to them on the MRT. This is unfair, we are paying commuters too. It is a choice whether to give up seat or not, we are not obliged to do that. If you want to confirm have seat, go take the taxi, not public transport.
And for God's sake, you are tired people are also tired mah. Want to sit but insist on using eye power and expect people to let you sit. Wapiang why you no mouth meh? Why cannot use your golden mouth to ask?
If you open your mouth and ask politely for seats, most will be willing to obliged you. Sometimes we just don't know how to differentiate between a lady who is pregnant and fat. If offer seat to a fat lady, kind gesture becomes a rude gesture. There was once I saw a lady standing in front of me, she was wearing a dress but her tummy looked like 4 months pregnant. I was really torn if she is pregnant or just flabby.
Point is you have every right to speak up but you did not, next time wear a headband with sign "I AM PREGNANT. I NEED A SEAT" and print it in many languages. No need speak, people will give way to you.
