The Workers' Party issued its response to the tragic accident, which claimed the lives of two young Singaporean SMRT maintenance staff, Nasrulhudin Najumudin and Muhammad Asyraf Ahmad Buhari. The posts appeared on Professor Daniel Goh's Facebook page, who mentioned that he was personally "quite affected" by the distressing incident, and on the Workers' Party's Facebook.

"The Workers’ Party offers our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the two SMRT maintenance workers, Nasrulhudin Najumudin and Muhammad Asyraf Ahmad Buhari, who passed away in an accident earlier today.
We are greatly saddened that the two workers had died in the line of duty.
This accident tragically highlights the hard work that maintenance and service workers put into making our public transport system operate efficiently. Thank you and please keep safe.
