According to the Channel NewsAsia news report “Singapore ranks high in financial well-being, lags in other measures: Gallup study” (Jun 26) – “It scored 111th in purpose well-being – “Liking what you do each day and being motivated to achieve your goals”; 127 in social well-being – “having supportive relationships and love in your life”; and 137th in physical well-being – “having good health and enough energy to get things done daily”.
137th in ”physical well-being”
As we celebrate SG50– don’t you feel that being ranked 137th out of 145 countries in “physical well-being - “having good health and enough energy to get things done daily”” – is not something that we should be proud of?
Does this mean that Singaporeans are in a sense struggling daily?
127th in ”social well-being”
As to being ranked 127th in “social well-being – “having supportive relationships and love in your life”” – does it mean that Singaporeans are in a sense lacking in emotional relationships – arguably the essence of life?
111th in ”purpose well-being”
As to being ranked 111th in “purpose well-being – “Liking what you do each day and being motivated to achieve your goals”” – does it not make you question why our policies and environment have failed to make our lives more meaningful?
What do you think?
Win battles lose war
