At least 20 rat holes were seen near a temple at Bukit Batok St 23 but have since been treated and sealed by the authorities.

The rodents were spotted eating food offerings within the See Thian Foh temple and a temple volunteer shared that the rat problem appeared at the temple for the past 5 months.. Recently, after putting poisonous bait in the temple, they caught 28 dead rats in one night.

According to eyewitness who works in the area, rats are very common in the area after dark. He speculated that the rats were eating leftover food which works used to feed the stray dogs in the area.

NEA when approached said they will intensify efforts to control the rat population in Bukit Batok.
