Dear SBSTransit
Yesterday morning at about 11am, I took a SBS Bus 48 (Bus Plate No. SBS 8632A) at bus stop Blk 57 Marine Parade Road (Bus Stop No. 92079)
The driver, a Malay man in his twenties ( I couldn't get his name) as the bus was really packed and I stand quite a distance from the driver.
After about 10 minutes into the ride, the bus 48 stopped at Parkway and a group of elderly people board the bus.
The driver actually make an extra effort to stand up from his seat and make an announcement to the passengers to give up their seat to the group of elderly passengers that had just boarded the bus.
And this prompted the other passengers to give up their seat for some of the elderly.
But upon the next stop, the bus driver actually stood up and called upon an elderly aunty whom was standing and requested for a female passenger seated behind him to share her seat (1 Adult & 1 Child Seat) with the elderly aunty due to the small build of the female passenger.
I'm really surprised and was left in awed on the extra effort this bus driver had took to ensure that the elders are being safe and taken care of during their journey which also ensuring they did not get hurt due to loss of balance while standing.
I can't help smiling throughout the journey as I'm glad to know that kind-hearted drivers like him exist. And I hope that in the future, there will be more bus drivers like him and knowing my not so young parents will be taken care of.
P.S I couldn't get his name but I managed to click a picture of him upon alighting.
Please look for this driver and thanked him on our behalf as he is a hero to the elderly passenger boarding his bus.
Cuz just like Maya Angelou say,
"How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!"
