STALL HOLDERS DISAPPOINTED WITH FLOODING AT THE NEWLY OPENED GHIM MOH MARKET

Some stall holders have expressed their disappointment with the flooding at the newly opened Ghim Moh market.

The market which had been operating for less than a month was flooded after a heavy downpour on Saturday.

Stall holders say they will be observing the situation and urged the relevant authorities to investigate the matter.

In a video that has went viral, it can be seen that although the rain was quite heavy and the market was flooded, food-loving Singaporeans continue to queue in an orderly fashion for their favourite hawker food.

A 50 year-old stall holder said the it rained heavily twice for about half an hour. The water did not come cascade down from the roof but rushed into the hawker centre from the empty space between the wet market and hawker centre.

It seemed that the drainage couldn't cope with the large amount of water. Luckily, the new floor was rough and no one slipped and fell.

When queried, Holland-Bukit Panjang Town Council said together with National Environment Agency, they investigated the matter on the very day and found that the drainage was clogged. They will rectify the problem these few days.
