25 year-old national sepak takraw player Azreen Sairudin still remembers the fateful accident that claimed his younger brother's life, and his haunting last words.

Both brothers were involved in a collision with a car along Seletar Expressway on 7th June. His younger brother, 21 year-old Aqil Sairudin, was riding pillion on Azreen's motorcycle.

"We were both lying on the ground and he told me 'Azreen, I'm in so much pain.'

"Those were his last words."

More than 3 weeks have passed since Azreen was left fighting for his life in hospital, and while Azreen has recovered, his emotional and mental wounds have not.

The brothers were especially close, having shared the same bedroom and bed for the past 12 years.

Azreen said: "Now when I wake up every morning, there's no one beside me."

Last week, Azreen announced that he was quitting the national sport to be with family.
