Tragedy struck on Mother's Day yesterday when a Singaporean family found their 1 year-old baby girl lying motionless in her room with injuries on her neck. The young girl had just celebrated her first year of life 5 days ago.
The family's Indonesian domestic worker, 30 year-old Maryani Bte Usman Utar, is now the prime suspect in the case. According to investigations, the maid had left the family's home bright and early in the morning. By the time the family discovered that their child was dead, Maryani was uncontactable.
Police eventually arrested Maryani at Marina Bay Sands.
The toddler is believed to have died at about 9.20AM in her 6th storey Simei Avenue 4 flat at Block 225.
Investigations are underway.
