After ignoring two police notices to assist in investigations, Amos Yee Pang Sang was arrested yesterday (11 May 2016). When queried by members of the press, the Singapore Police Force said that a 17 year old male was arrested for flouting the Penal Code Article 174 and Article 298.
Police stated that Amos Yee was wanted for posting religiously insensitive comments on the internet about a religion. In December last year, police requested for Amos Yee's assistance but despite the notice, Amos left the country and only returned to Singapore in April.
Upon his return to Singapore, the State Courts issued a Court Order instructing him to the police station but he ignored the Court Order. Investigations are ongoing.
