A PRC man has sued famous PRC actress Vicki Zhao Wei because he says he could not endure her intense star through his TV set, causing "spiritual damage".
The PRC man says that he was watching the prime time show Tiger Mom when the staring incident occurred. Vicki stars in that drama, where she plays a woman who struggles to raise her daughter with her husband.
The Shanghai Puting district court has not said whether it would accept the case. An anonymous official however has blasted the case as a waste of public resources.
Unhappiness from officials and the PRC public have emerged recently after government regulations made it more difficult for PRC courts to reject claims and cases since 1st May. Courts must now provide clear reasons for their rejections of claims and the public have the right to appeal these decisions. The changes have resulted in a 29% increase in cases compared with last year.
The cases now handled by PRC courts numbers at over a million cases per year, according to the PRC supreme court.
