Despite announcements made by SMRT that the trains are functioning at reduced speed, the Singapore government-controlled state media Channel News Asia put up a video and reported that the trains appear to be running at normal speed.
Singapore mainstream media ranks 153rd in press freedom and independence. The Singapore Government controls all news media via the Newspaper Act and recently legislated that all online media, including blogs and Facebook pages, to put up a S$50,000 bond if they report Singapore news on a regular basis.
