3 years ago, the late prime minister Lee Kuan Yew made a recording of himself reading the Proclamation of Independence for Singapore, in the hopes that the recording could be kept for posterity.
On 9th August at 9AM, this recording will be aired across Singapore for the first time. The recording will be played on all local TV and radio channels and at 82 National Day Observance Ceremonies organized by the People's Association's grassroots organizations.
More than 30 ceremonies are also being organised by corporate and community organisations ranging from supermarket chains to voluntary welfare organisations.
The original reading of the Proclamation over the radio 50 years ago was made by an announcer.
