Responding to a whatsapp message warning parents about safety of the LED balloon maracas, the authorities have issued a statement urging users to not overblow the balloon to prevent any safety issues. They reiterated that the device was definitely safe to use. This is their statement in full:
The NDP Executive Committee (EXCO) is aware that messages on the safety of the LED balloon maracas from the Funpack are being circulated. The manufacturer assures that the balloon maracas have gone through careful testing for quality control and is safe for use.
Notwithstanding, we urge users to use the LED balloon maracas in accordance to the instructions on the packaging and avoid overinflating the balloon.
