ANOTHER READER DEFENDS SHIRWIN EU AGAINST CRITICISMS THAT HE WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH

$
0
0

I refer to the reply by Mr Sagar Gandhi to Mr ShirwinEu’s wife’s comments.

High election costs isn’t the only way to exclude candidates looking for wealth. Lowering the MP allowance is another way. If the MP allowance is only $3,000 a month which is close to median income, then no one can blame election candidates for going after wealth.

There are so many ways to become famous. Most famous of which is the Famous Amos way. It is far cheaper and more effective too. So it’s hardly convincing for Mr Sagar to say that someone is going after fame by contesting in elections when there are so many other easier and more effective ways to become famous.

It is unfair for Mr Sagar to say that one who is truly worthy and deserving can easily obtain $13,500 a month because it implies that anyone who cannot obtain $13,500 a month is unworthy and undeserving. But $13,500 is way above Singapore median income. Mr Sagar is essentially saying that only the rich in Singapore are worthy and deserving enough to contest in elections. Ordinary folks earning less than $13,500 are unworthy. That is a terrible attitude to have. There are so many worthy individuals who are earning so much less than $13,500. We have a phD blogger who now drives a taxi. Dr Chee is a phD too but is reduced to doing odd jobs here and there.

Mr Sagar cannot compare the networking in Singapore with the networking in America. America is a free country. If there is a giant you want to fight against, there will be another giant who is willing to back you. Here in Singapore, all the networking eventually traces to PAP. If you’re against the PAP, then sadly, the network will be against you, not for you.

Mr Sagar should not blame Uber for high COEs. COEs have been high for many years already whereas Uber is only a recent phenomenon in Singapore. In fact, COEs have come down a bit from the highs a few years ago. Wouldn’t it be the other way around instead? That with Uber’s entrance comes lower COEsI’m not suggesting anything but it shows how silly it can be to associate COEs with Uber when there are so many other factors to consider.

Instead of eagerly asking Shirwin for solutions, Mr Sagar should pause for a while and ask himself instead, for a relative unknown like Shirwin, even if his solution is gold or platinum standard, would Mr Sagar or the elites governing this country be able to recognise it?

By his statement “Would that not have been a better response than the desire to achieve wealth and fame when requesting to be voted into public office?”, Mr Sagar has already falsely accused Mr Shirwin of seeking wealth and fame. Mr Sagar urges Shirwin to improve his arguments when in fact it is Mr Sagar who should improve his. Mr Sagar should not be so silly as to think that making false accusations is the same as making an argument.

Dear A.S.S,

While I am buying subway this afternoon and this chao ang mo and his SGP were behind me queuing.

The ang mo make a very loud comment to his girlfriend, "Singapore make the worst sandwiches ever, it like really the worst. Other countries are bad, but Singapore is the worst" Then follow by "what can we expect from a 3rd world."

His SGP girlfriend then stops him from continuing.

What do you think? Do foreigners like him have the right to come to our country, steal our jobs and women and still have the cheek to disrespect us?

MUST BE PAP VOTERS: PEOPLE DUNNO HOW TO PRESS BUTTON FOR TRAFFIC LIGHT

$

Was crossing a road in front of Tampines Mall. The traffic light on my side was blocked by some roadworks barriers. More people were gathering; the crowd was bulging over the kerb.

Just across from us was another crowd. Two women were standing near the traffic light. They looked dazed, as if they had spent their teenage years abused by assessment books. They watched us, blinking in curiosity.

An auntie on my side couldn't take it anymore and shouted across, 'can someone please press the traffic light?'

The two women still stared ahead. Blink blink. Serene indifference. Auntie resorted to waving her arms. 'Press the traffic light!' she yelled.

Another woman slipped from behind the two dazed women and pressed the button.

A man beside Auntie chimed up, loudly. We all heard him: "Finally someone press. The rest got brain but don't know how to use. Must be the 70%."

OK so now I'm going to use 'you must be the 70%' on all the cockanathans who block escalators, don't know how to move inside carriages, don't know how to acknowledge you when you hold a door open for them, and all general acts of placid-passive-inert stupidity.

SG CAR WEAVES IN & OUT OF TRAFFIC, CAUSES A 4 CAR ACCIDENT

Dear A.S.S,

I want to share about the driver of this Singapore registered Mercedez S400, SKN8285M. He was driving in a haphazard way, weaving in and out of traffic with no regard for the safety of other road users.

At the toll both near Kempas in JB, the driver veered from the left lane to the right-most lane without signaling. This caused 4 cars that were behind him to hit the brakes, resulting in multi-car rear end collisions.

A driver then chased him and informed him of what he has done.

Guess what was the Mercs driver reaction?

"Report me to the police. I am on good terms with the police in Johor. You think... I know the law"

I just want to inform other road users to beware of this driver .

Dear A.S.S,

Do not ever book Pacific Express & Tour coaches to malaysia!

This company book 40 over people for trip to KL and Genting and the coach timing were from 8pm till 12am, hourly. The lady boss keep delaying the coach timing and we dunno the exact timing coach will arrive.

During the delay the lady boss was not even in the shop, she just went home to slp and left 40 over people keep waiting without knowing what time the coach will come.

At 12.30am, one 27 seater coach turn up to send 40 over people to both KL and genting! The bus driver also told us the bus is not suitable to go genting cos it's dangerous. Lady boss refuse to pick up calls. Only after threats of calling police, she turned up at 1.25am. She refuses to refund tickets.

She booked a van that is also not suitable to go genting. Going up the slope of genting, it keep stopping by roadside, risking our lives!

Such unethical company, only want to earn our money and dun care abt our lives and safety. She can still slp while sending people to hell!

SINGAPOREAN: ANG MOH IS RIGHT TO SAY THAT SG IS A "THIRD WORLD COUNTRY"

$
0
0

Dear A.S.S,

I refer to your publication http://www.allsingaporestuff.com/article/arrogant-ang-moh-says-spore-3rd... and would like to give my 2 cents worth as an overseas Singaporean. What I mean by "overseas" is being a PR of the foreign country while retaining Singapore Citizenship and participating in voting at limited S'pore embassies. Why do we not give up the citizenship is simply because we do not see a need to renounce our birthright, period!

I immigrated to the States about 40 years ago and have been living there since, very accustomed to that way of life while sending monies home. Countries such as the US, UK, Australia and Canada offer much opportunities not just in economic terms but also the ability for one to accept constructive criticism and constantly improve in life as "failure is the mother of all successes" is a norm there. But back in S'pore, this mantra is not acceptable and parents would either fret or break down if they learn their children did not manage to get into "Retarded Idiots" (RI), some other top schools or are even lagging behind their neighbors or relatives. The one-sided pursuit of perceived economic or developmental success and "worship" of certain figures who "attained" that narrow level and subsequently inducted into business or political leadership is what will lead to the eventual downfall of S'pore in phases. After all, did not 1 of our founding fathers, Mr Lim Kin San heavily criticized this elitism as he build up our houses and the HDB with only 'O' level qualifications!

Now back to this ignorant Ang Moh, I actually do not blame him as my own friend from the US held this opinion when he visited S'pore 3 years back because of the people he interacted with in our country. He told me most of the service staffs here look like they are from 3rd world countries and had immense difficulties understanding basic English. He initially thought they were merely transient workers but was later shocked to learn that these people had PR and some were even citizens! No thanks in part to the closer ASEAN integration union which opened the floodgates and ultimately sealed our fate with these uncivilized civilization which political style we picked up.

I found this to be true myself when I came back to visit family and friends during the 2015 Lunar New Year and strolled around S'pore to see what has changed. I was dumbfounded to see hordes of foreigners literally occupying almost every position at hospitals, major shopping centers and eateries without the need to possess basic hygiene or communication skills. When I shopped at "Cold Storage" Bugis, I saw only 2 Singaporean workers out of a sea of Filipino managers and Malaysian cashiers. How could this occur in a short span of a decade leaves much room for pondering if this is indeed the manner Singaporeans want the country to progress? With ARTIFICIAL suppression of wages, marked-up land costs and quantity of the population instead of quality! The QC in this instance, the citizens, have failed in its duty to exercise proper control.

I always vote for opposition at our embassy by the way and trust me on this, those 'majority' overseas Singaporeans who endorse PAP and bitch about their host countries are in actual fact, hypocrites who are very happy that policies back home prevent fellow Singaporeans from progressing in life so they can be "retained" here. If the US or other developed countries are as bad as they claimed, wouldn't they have boarded the first flight for home?

PAP'S MURALI IS ETHICALLY BANKRUPT!

$
0
0

Dear All Singapore Stuff,

PAP's Murali is ethically bankrupt!

So, we know the candidate Murali has indicated that he will only treat his MP responsibilities on a part time basis. He claims that there is no need for an MP to spend full time at the job even though he is in an SMC and not a GRC and will be the sole and only MP in that ward. He will be keeping his job at Rajah and Tann. Ok, fine, I do have a problem with this, but not as large as the problem I have with the following tacit admission by Murali.

What Murali should have done if he was a moral person would be to say that if he does this as a Part Time Job, he should have in the very same breath said he will take only partial salary. That is fair and morally upright thing to do. For example, if he says he will discharge his MP duties for only 10 hours a week, then, he should just say that he has voluntarily turn down $13000 in pay and accept only a $4000 salary. In this way, these is some justification for telling everyone that he will work only part time for them.

I think people can see the fairness in this, although its not fair in the regard that they deserve full representation for themselves in Parliament through their MP which can best be achieved if the MP works full time. But lets all be clear on one thing. Mr. Murali's chief source of income by far is from his law practice. Its very possible that even at the full pay of $17K per month as an MP, this could very well only constitute 10% or less of his income from R & T. In other words, he does not need the money. If he was an ethical person, he could have simply said, "look I can only be your MP for part time. and therefore, i don't feel that its proper to take the taxpayer's money for that much. Instead, i will not draw a pay and discharge my MP duties to the best of my abilities on a part time basis".

I think people will accept this and respect this even if they don't like it. But lets face it, he is cut from the same mould as the other PAP candidates. These people are already very wealthy. And really, even $17K a month (a significant amount to most people), is peanuts for a man like Murali who is in charge of 100 lawyers in one of the biggest law firms in singapore. His annual compensation is easily several million $ a year from R & T.

Mr. Murali, here is the way to save your face. Tell the people that you will only take partial salary since you are working partially for them. That will go a long way to help yourself look less like the greedy asshole that you are. And more importantly, Mr Murali, that is the ethical and moral thing to do.

GAY S'POREAN: I HATE MY LIFE IN S'PORE, DR CHEE IS MY ONLY HOPE, PAP HAS NO BALLS

$
0
0

Dear ASS Editors,

I am a 35 year old man living in Singapore. I served my NS and still serving my reservist duties. The only difference is, I am a gay man living in this country. I have been in a relationship with my partner for 10 years. I am faithful to my partner and try my best to be a loyal model citizen.

I may love my country but my country does not love me back. Whenever I go out shopping for groceries at the wet market or supermarket with my partner, we attract stares from others like we are animals on exhibit. When I hold my husband's hands in public, people give us the death stare like we are murderers of their family members. When I give my husband a peck on his cheek while strolling along East Coast Park, people stare in disgust and tell their children to look away.

Why is Singapore the way it is? Why are Singaporeans so brainwashed to the point of discriminating against your fellow countryman because of our gay orientation? It is the PAP's fault, their gutless policy of keeping a law which discriminates against homosexual men. When our political leaders have no bravery to do the right thing and uphold basic humanity, it is why Singaporeans learn to discriminate against others different from them. I have written umpteen times to my PAP MP but never once have their spoke up for me and my husband in Parliament.

I have given up on the PAP to give me equality and basic respect in my own country. I want a country where I can walk freely on the streets with my husband, holding hands without any prejudice. I want to have a country where I can get married to the person I love regardless of gender. I want to have the same legal status as any married couple and not having to travel to California to get married legally. I want my country to protect my basic rights as a citizen and treat me as a human being, not a digit.

Dr Chee is the only politician in Singapore who can change all these injustice. Dear Bukit Batok residents, please do the right thing and vote for Dr Chee into Parliament. He is the man who will lead us to a true modern democracy where race, religion and sexual orientation no longer matters. He is the leader for the new Singapore. Look at the WP, when have they ever spoken up for the LGBT community in Singapore. They are the PAP-lite version, wary of upsetting the majority and unwilling to make the tough choices for Singapore.

It is hard for me to live in a place where I am rejected and unaccepted. Please Dr Chee, get into Parliament and be my voice. Do not pander to the unreasonable wants of the majority and sacrifice doing what is right. Please save us Dr Chee, you are me and my husband's only hope left in Singapore. If you do not get into Parliament, I am afraid I have to consider migrate from this place I call home.

FEMALE CLUBBER DEEMED "NOT FEMININE ENOUGH" DENIED FREE ENTRY ON LADIES NIGHT

$
0
0

<Facebook complaint by Deesha Menon>

On Wednesday night, 20th April 2016, three friends and I (all girls) went to f.Club, and despite it being ladies night -- which is universally known to entail free entry as long as your IC reads ‘F’ for female -- one of my friends was denied free entry on account of being “inappropriately dressed” (and here I am quoting more than one bouncer, including the one “in charge”).

There are 2 flagrant problems with this:

1 - a shockingly unfair inconsistency in club rules and ethos

2 - blatant sexism and gender-identity discrimination that is archetypal of club culture

First and foremost, the term “inappropriate” is a circumstantial one and by virtue of this alone, one would expect that rules pertaining to appropriateness be spelt out in black and white. Under the “dress-code” tab on the official f.Club website it states: “NO EFFORT, NO ENTRY. STRICTLY NO SLIPPERS, NO SHORTS, NO SINGLET” (retrieved from: http://f-club.sg/hp/about/club-rules/), a rule that is not gender-specific. My friend was dressed in jeans (like me) and close-toed high top sneakers (like me).

The only difference was that I wore a cropped top that bore my midriff and she was in a long-sleeved sweater. We both complied to the dress code, yet she was asked to pay a $30 entry fee and I was let in for free. Logically, if she did not adhere to the stipulated dress code as stated on their website, they should not have let her in at all.

Logically, paying $30 to enter a club despite being "inappropriately dressed" is bribery, and an authority that not only condones but demands this is corrupt. But no semblances of logic surfaced in our dealings with ~5 members of staff, so that is not that point. My friend was not “inappropriately dressed” as the bouncers repeatedly and brainlessly asserted; she was not dressed “femininely”, and it is nothing short of alarming that in our support of sexist institutions such as f.Club, we have allowed rightfully detached perceptions of “feminine”, “provocative” and “appropriate” to fuse and become disturbingly interchangeable. Are these honestly the sort of institutions we are supporting?

“NO EFFORT, NO ENTRY” is not only hypocritical but is also highly ineffectual, and while changing it to “no SEX APPEAL, no entry” would be far more honest, it doesn’t make the club culture any less abhorrent. Deciding whether or not to let a woman into a club for free based on the type and quantity of clothing she has on is almost like flinging meat into a lions’ den; if you’re not fleshy then you remain in the pail.

Patronising these places only breeds a society that shelves men and women into predator and prey, or subject and object, which is not only feudal and archaic but is regressive, unfair and fundamentally disgusting. Notwithstanding ridiculously arbitrary rules, an “appropriately dressed” woman is far from one who is baring her skin. It is repugnant to deny a woman who is legally and sexually female her right to free club entry on a Wednesday just because she is not dressed provocatively and caked in makeup -- for reasons that go far beyond a persons' decision to identify with social expectations of what both men and women should dress like. Yes, my friend is ‘butch' and so she dresses “like a boy”, but what about the women who are body conscious? Women who are conservative? Women who are COLD…?

I am furious, and I am not the only one that should be. Far more repulsive than an institution that propagates gender stereotyping and objectification is one that hides behind ludicrous “dress code” excuses. Not only is it offensive to women who cannot and choose not to conform to societal expectations of what a "club-ready" woman should look like, it also breeds a culture where woman are expected to put their bodies on show.

Stop the proliferation of institutions and their culture that discriminates, denies the fluidity of gender, and commodifies bodies.

PAP SAYS COMMENT CALLING UNEMPLOYED CHEE WORTHLESS IS FAKE

$

The People's Action Party (PAP) issued an unsurprisingly response via TODAY, claiming that no PAP volunteer had said that Dr Chee or unemployed people were "worthless".

This follows an online furor over a post made by Facebook user Ridhuan, who said that a PAP volunteer had made that remark to him after he told them that he would go to Dr Chee Soon Juan's rally.

In their statement, the PAP said that it had checked with their volunteers and they said that none of them had made the remark.

PAP Executive Director Alex Yam also noted defensively: “What is telling is that the (Facebook) post claimed that the volunteer had asked Mr Ridhuan Abdullah to attend the PAP rally to show support... There was no PAP rally that day, and neither had any upcoming rally been announced.”

Beware of this guy, JEFFERY SNG JUN KUN.

He's a boss of a company (not exposing the company name). He delay my colleague & my wages. CPF not credit in. Not only myself, but all my colleagues too. He dragged one of my colleague CPF for couple of mont (Jan-present) & of course, mine. As a boss/managing director, he did not notify any of us regarding about the contribution of CPF. Till my friend found her that Cpf have not been contributing since then.

The reason he gave was the company is changing director status to him. He needs time to adjust & he will settle it by the end of March. And guess what? During the head of April, we asked him regarding about this, he says he will settle it by the end of April. And again, during April, he says he will settle it by 3rd May. (Which I highly believe he is not gonna settle it). Will u able to tahan this? Ok, CPF aside. Lets come to our salary.

I've been waiting for my salary for one whole full month. Not only me & the other colleague too. Some gotten their salary but some did not. First week, he drag till second week and it carries on dragging & delaying. Telling us, he is settling at bank, telling us to check our bank (playing us like a fool). And den, saying this and that. Whatever reason he can tot of. Till TODAY, my salary for March & April have not been gotten. & he terminated me with no reason given. (MOM rule, pay should be given after 7 days of quitting , if im not wrong?) but i receive not even a single CENT.

How "responsible" he is? I've my family to feed. Is totally unfair to us. My things are in the office & i'm unable to get back my things too because office was being lock by landlord (no idea with what reason) but that is his n his company issue with the landlord. He should do something about it & help us get back our thing which belongs to ours in the office! Till today, still no action done yet be it regarding about CPF / SALARY / OUR THINGS IN OFFICE.

COUNT ME UNLUCKY TO MEET THIS TYPE OF BOSS. PLEASE TAKE NOTE & THINK TWICE BEFORE ACCEPTING ANY JOB. LESSON LEARNT !

ROY NGERNG: DR CHEE IS A MAN OF INTEGRITY, VOTE FOR THIS GREAT MAN

$

No, we cannot stoop that low. No, we cannot. They might discredit someone's character. They might mock those without jobs. But we are not like them. We will stand tall and stand above it all.

No, we cannot be like them. They might make him lose his job and feel no guilt. But we have a conscience. And we will stay clear-minded and strong.

For is it not they say to live your life to the fullest and not to give those who mock you the chance to laugh? And Dr Chee Soon Juan has. He stood tall. He is the greater man. And he continues to hold his head up high.

By now, Dr Chee has inspired many. The fight he has fought for Singaporeans has finally touched the hearts of many.

For how many can have the steel like him to withstand the onslaught of bullying and still be able to smile with such great spirits. To still treat his opponents with respect, even as they continue to try to drag him down.

But he will not be swayed. They can drag themselves through the mud. But no, he will stand firm. When one believes in equality, justice and freedom, one believes in it truly.

Dr Chee continues to live with integrity. Doesn't matter what they do to him. At the end of the day, his heart is in the right place - for Singapore and Singaporeans - and he knows he will be able to sleep at night. What Dr Chee has shown is that while his opponents spend their time thinking of ways to fix him, he is not concerned with that.

He only wants to spend his time thinking about what policies to create, so that Singapore can be a fairer and more just society. Dr Chee has bigger things to thing about - how to care for Singaporeans.

If I sound like I speak of the man with great admiration, it is because I truly admire this man. I had to fight the defamation suit for 2 years and it has been exhausting. I cannot imagine the will and strength he has to go through it all - the more than 20 years now. All this while, being a committed husband to his wife, May, and a responsible father to his children.

They say he has no job. I say it is because he has such a simple life but is still able to take care of his family and bring up his children that is truly great and admirable. For those who mock him, do they understand how hard he has fought? Do they understand what it means to be brave and to stand by your beliefs and values?

Words are easy, as are mine. But Dr Chee has lived through more than 20 years of it, when he could have gone to America - the land of the free - and live a successful life now. But he chose to stay. He chose to give that all up to fight for Singapore. For those of us who have planned our careers and who keep trying to climb up the corporate ladder, you know how big a sacrifice Dr Chee has made.

This man is made of a steel that many of us cannot imagine. All because he believes in Singapore. All because he wants to fight for a better Singapore.

For me, for all his sacrifices and his sense of mission, this is a man who truly has the heart for Singapore and who truly cares for Singaporeans.

Such a man - Dr Chee - needs to be in parliament to serve the people. He needs to be our voice. He needs to be our choice.

But like Dr Chee says, success is not just determined by power or money.

It is determined by your values, your heart and your service.

These are values embodied by Dr Chee and who has lived his life vigorously to these principles.

More importantly, Dr Chee understands Singaporeans.

He knows how important unemployment benefits are to the many of us who are unemployed today and he wants to champion for us on this issue.

He knows how the cost of living has become so expensive in Singapore today that we need minimum wage to protect the workers and our families.

He knows how important university education is and how expensive it has become and how the government has a responsibility to spend more on our children's education.

He knows how we need to make healthcare truly affordable so that Singaporeans will not be scared to go to a hospital. So that we can get well.

And he knows how retirement is important to Singaporeans. And collecting cardboards cannot be a respectable way of life.

When Dr Chee goes into parliament, he will ask the hard questions. He will help Singaporeans get our money back.

So that all Singaporeans can live good lives.

In Dr Chee, I trust. Because he has lived the life.

He has lived by example.

He is a man I admire and greatly respect.

But most importantly, I hope a man who has the heart for Singapore and who will truly fight for Singaporeans will go in and make that difference. And help Singaporeans.

Most importantly, I want Singaporeans to have a chance to have a voice who will speak up strongly for us.

Most importantly, ‪#‎NowIsTheTime‬ for us to give ourselves a chance, to have a new vision.

So that all Singaporeans can live in a democratic society, based on justice and equality.

So as to achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation.

For ourselves. And for our children.

We must. #NowIsTheTime

DR CHEE: THE PAP CALLS ME TRAITOR, JAILED & BANKRUPT ME BUT I WILL NOT KNEEL BEFORE THEM

Dr Chee Soon Juan's Bukit Batok rally speech on 3 May 2016.

"The PAP continues to attack my character. They've called me all sorts of names: cheat, liar, gangster, traitor, psychopath, they've sacked me, jailed me, sued me and made me bankrupt. But I'm still standing.

The taunts, the insults, the punishments, the attacks have been unrelenting. But I do not bow to those who mock me nor will I bend to those who attack me. I will not kneel before them because one cannot stand up for one's principles, for one's beliefs and for one's people on bended knees.

As long and as hard as the struggle has been, I walk with my head held high. I can do this because it doesn't matter who the PAP says I am. What matters is God knows who I am, my wife and my children know who I am, and, most important, I know who I am.

And because that which does not kill you, makes you stronger, I have grown stronger with every attack."

We are a group of Singaporeans who have been following the progress of the current Bukit Batok by-elections.

We would like to categorically state that we do not condone the personal attacks and character assassination made by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Speaker of Parliament Halimah Yacob, and Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Grace Fu, against Dr Chee Soon Juan of the SDP.

We are deeply saddened at the manner in which the campaign is run, having deteriorated to a level that undermines our Singaporean values. It is indeed a sad state of affairs when people who have been entrusted with positions of power and leadership perpetuate such unbecoming behaviour. We want an election campaign that addresses the pertinent issues facing Singaporeans, rather than one that is marred primarily by the vilification of anyone's person.

PASSENGER GETS BAD SERVICE FRM TAXI DRIVER, SAYS WE SHD SUPPORT UBER & GRAB

Dear A.S.S,

Today I took a taxi (trans cab SHD5821Z) at orchard area. It was a short distance to a friends condo to pick up a document so even though I had to pay the extra 3 dollars CBD charges and extra 25 percent and erp, I still have to do it because I was rushing for time. When I arrived at the location, I had to wait for a few mins.

After a min, I told the driver please drive around the compound because I cant see my contact at the location we stopped at. The driver talk back in Chinese ”你这样拖我的时间啊” "you are dragging my time"

So the fact is this, I don't give a fxxx if you gonna wait 10 mins or more Cus lim peh am still paying and you give me face and attitude within 2 mins of waiting? These drivers and this so called taxi service is why we hate taxis so much. Do I owe them a living or I owe them money?

I hope all that read this and users of such service who goes through what I did, consider using and supporting the third party apps and service. The issues I have with 3rd party apps service is almost zero. The truth is, the taxi governance and system is flawed, and this cause the growth of such drivers who acted as they please.

We do not need to put up to this.

BEWARE OF MSIAN CAR AT TAMAN JURONG - DRIVER WITH PASSENGER ASK FOR $

$

Dear A.S.S,

Attention! Beware! Please Share with your Friends

Prevention is better than Sorry.

On 1st May, Almost 3am+, after I sent my Girlfriend home at Tamen Jurong, I was heading home.

While I am driving halfway, there is a car opposite my lane, driver waving his hand at me.
Natural reaction, I slow down my car and eventually come to a stop.

The driver spoke in Malay and asked me a question, he end his sentence with the words - Ja krup Ma-lai-yu?
I shake my head. I guess he asked if I can understand malay?

Because we are near to a T-Junction without Traffic Light (Labelled 1 on Picture),
there is a cab behind, horned at me, therefore I have to drive away immediately.

That driver said “ok, Nevermind, I U-Turn”

I was surprised, if he can speak English, then why ask if I know malay?

I felt something is not right, I turned right at junction and speed up to try to avoid him away.

After passing the Cisco building (Labelled 2 on Picture), I met with Red Traffic Light. I stopped, behind me, is the cab followed me.

I was hoping that Car did not U-Turn and catch up with me. I was urgently waiting for the traffic to turn green!

Next min, he speeds up and managed to catch up with me, he then stopped beside my car this time. Oh My God!

So I quickly react & act like I am using my mobile phone talking to people.

He wind down the windows and try to talk to me and wave at me.
Leaving me no choice, I wind down my car passenger windscreen to react to him.

He speak in English this time.
“Hello, can you please help me, I need 18 Ringgit to top up my card, I have no money to go home, my kids are all sleeping in the car”

I have a quick glance at his passenger seat beside him, I saw 1 more guy sleeping with head tilt up but do not look like kid to me, probably early 20-30 with tall build.
I could not see the behind passenger as the glass was a quite dark.

Questions strike me immediately,
- At Odd hour near 3am?
- Drive a Malaysia car with his kids, did not have RM18?
- How would that be possible when usually we keep some spare money especially when we are oversea and moreover with family and kids?
- Tamen Jurong? If he come from his friends or relative house, he could have borrow him them already?

Just feel something fishy and not right..............................

I was thinking if I go down the car to pass him the money, what if someone come out of the car from behind and slash me with knife, rob me and drive my car away?
Or What if he come over my car and use a knife to point at me?

I pause for that moment and rejected him by saying sorry I have no money.
Cab behind me honk me again, I have to drive away and turn right away.
I speed away with high speed to avoid him follow me again. I monitor my rare mirror until boon lay, he did not follow me anymore.

I did not manage to see his Car Plate, his car is like Subaru Forester type of car.
To me, it’s not a lousy car but did not have RM18?

RM18 is not more than SGD$7.
As a normal Singaporean drivers, its quite affordable.
I guess most of the drivers would help for this kind of situation. Maybe that his tactic to make people help him?

I did not help because there are too many doubts and fishy.
His face doesn’t seem to be a ok guy to me, his car windows is too dark and its happening at odd hours at near 3am midnight.

I may have guess it wrongly, but prevention is better than sorry especially there are few slashing cases that happened recently in our neighbor country.

Share with your friends who drive in case they meet into my similar situation especially at late night specially ladies friend who may not know how to react.

Drive to the nearest Police Station. Do not alight your car in any situation.
Even if it is a genuine case, it is still OK to pass him the money to help him inside the police station.
