KID BULLIED IN LEARNING VISION BUT PRINCIPAL LETS BULLY GET AWAY WITH IT

$

Dear Editor,

My son was just bullied in preschool and the school just said, i will investigate and not do anything before investigation ends.

The bully n his elder brother are in the same preschool as my son.
1st time it happened..they called my son horrible names when he did not even do anything to them.

2nd time..they were in the music room, the bully punch my son's stomach but he did not react..then the bully pushed and made my son fall and cried.

I asked the Principle to get the bully to apologise to my son infront of the class but the principle & centre manager refused!!Saying it might not be intentional?! And they will look into it...

Seriously..what's wrong with apologising? I think i am very wrong to teach my son to be gentle, he gets bullied in the end. I told him to kick & slap the bully next time if he calls him names or push him infuture...

No one wants their precious to be bullied!! Cant teach our young ones to be too nice to pple anymore. Enrolling him for martial arts for self defence.

the lousy preschool is LEARNING VISION, getting my son out of there already.

Missy

FOREIGN CONTRACTING AGENT COMPLAINS ABOUT S'POREAN FIRST POLICIES

Foreign Recruitment Agent working in Singapore slamming Singapore First Recruitment Policy despite having the chance to work in Singapore. Refer to link below.

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/foreigners-think-carefully-before-choosin...

He is from the UK(Native English Speaker) and a 'foreign talent'... yet if you read his post, a lot of grammatical errors and bad command of English. Simply appalling! Is this the type of foreign trash we want in this country?

Slamming our country's policy when it is even more difficult for foreigners to find jobs in his country compared to Singapore's liberal job market.

What is his goal? Self-interest? Discouraging foreign investors from investing in Singapore and ruining our country's reputation?

This "foreign talent" and his company need to be exposed - his company full of "ang moh" consultants even though Asians in his trade are very common.

ANGRY LANDLORD: LOCAL COUPLE EVADED PAYMENT, RENTED MY CONDO TO FOREIGNERS WITHOUT PERMISSION

BEWARE OF HELMY TAN (S 8674638X)! SHE SWINDLED 14,800 IN RENT & COSTED ME OVER $10,000 IN DAMAGES & LEGAL FEES.

People, beware of this woman called Helmy Tan (IC no: S 8674638X, Phone: 9828XXXX). She has scammed countless landlords & foreign students in rent money. She, together with her mother Inawaty Tan (G0016468U), ran an illegal boarding house for foreign students and conned me of $14,800 in rent & over $10,000 in Property Damages & Legal fees.

In mid 2013, a few months after renting my condo, Helmy Tan stopped paying rent, and when asked she would say that she was having problems with her business and pleaded for an extension of time to pay. Initially, being a good Samaritan, I pitied her and allowed her some extension. However, as her debt kept growing and she began avoiding my calls, I was forced to turn to my legal counsel and served her several eviction notices.

Helmy Tan completely ignored the eviction notices, so I confronted her in the condo on 22 July 2014. She was nowhere to be found; instead, a group of foreign students were at the condo. They told me Helmy and Inawaty did not live in the condo and had been renting out the rooms in the condo to the students. Some students were furious at Helmy as they had recently been evicted by Helmy’s previous landlord as she failed to pay the rent. When I asked them why they still stayed with Helmy, they told me that Helmy required them to pay 3 months rent in advance plus security deposit; and the students who left her never got their money back.

I decided to file a police report and informed her that I will call for the police to arrest her if she still refused to see me. On 24 July 2014, We finally met and came to an agreement. Helmy Tan & Inawaty Tan made partial payment to their debts & signed an agreement to pay the remaining debts, damages and legal fees and vacated the condo. After Helmy & Inawaty left, they only made 3 payments of $500 each and stopped. They ignored my calls and tried to hide themselves. I've been pleading & calling her to settle the remaining of her debts and tried to confront her in person again, but she continued to ignore my attempts.

I do not want other people to fall victim to these heartless Swindlers. I’m posting pictures of Helmy’s & her husband, YEO CHWEE SENG RAYMOND’s IC. DO NOT RENT YOUR HOUSE TO HER OR HER HUSBAND!!

99.7% OF JOBS GROWTH WENT TO FOREIGNERS?

$
0

Lowest jobs growth in 12 years

I refer to the article “Employment growth slows to lowest in 12 years; unemployment remains low” (Straits Times, Jan 28).

It states that “Just 31,800 more people here were employed at the end of last year – the lowest annual growth since 2003 – although unemployment remained low.

99.7% of jobs growth to foreigners?

Citizens and permanent residents made up 100 of these, with the bulk of the growth coming from the foreign workforce.”

So, does it mean that 99.7 per cent of the jobs growth went to foreigners?

How many of the 100 jobs to locals went to Singaporeans?

Something very wrong with our labour policies?

There may be something very wrong with our labour policies when the outcome is that Singaporeans got less than 0.3 per cent of the jobs growth.

“Tightened supply of foreign manpower”?

As to “The slower growth took place “amidst sluggish global economic conditions and slower growth of the Singapore economy, and tightened supply of foreign manpower”, said MOM in a statement” – how can the “tightened supply of foreign manpower” result in almost all of the jobs growth going to non-Singaporeans?

Were most of the retrenched Singaporeans

With regard to “A total of 14,400 workers lost their jobs last year, up from 12,930 in 2014, continuing a steady rise since 2010” – how many were Singaporeans– most of them?

PRC ESCORT POSTS PHOTOS ONLINE, CAUSES MEN TO SHUN PROSTITUTES FOREVER

Some women have all the luck... but others, not so much.

A PRC escort learnt this the hard way when she posted photos of herself on WeChat, inviting patrons to come and partake of her "services".

Netizens have speculated that she operates as a freelance escort in the Sembawang and Admiralty area.

While such posts are common in sex forums and sometimes even in regular forums like Hardwarezone, this PRC escort soon learnt that it is not so easy to appease the high standards set by picky internet patrons, who promptly recoiled from their keyboards in horror when they saw her pictures.

"Mai la mai la" wrote one netizen, using the Hokkien terms for "Do Not Want".

"Atb dun wan la... later downstair like amazon forest keep pets inside u also dunno 1..." wrote another netizen.

Others were more blunt and labelled her "FUGLY" or "a man with a wig".

When asked, one netizen replied, "I wouldn't f*** her even if she was the last woman on earth!"

While it appears that the netizens were unanimous in their derision for her below-par appearance, a fellow Facebook user commented: "This is precisely why I will NEVER engage the services of a prostitute. When you see her online so ugly already, imagine when you meet her in person. Then when you wake up the next morning after doing it, WAH KAO!"

DTL2 CONSTRUCTION DAMAGED LANDED RESIDENCES IN BUKIT TIMAH

$

0

Since 2011, construction along the Down Town Line 2 (DTL2) MRT line and stations has left these home owners in Duchess Road in Bukit Timah with nagging headaches and genuine fears for their safety.

According to these landed property owners, they found their homes damaged due to the massive construction work that was taking place just 70 meters away from their home at the Tan Kah Kee MRT Station. Cracked and slanted walls, burst water pipes and front gates that are unable to properly shut were among some of the more serious issues.

However, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and its contractors have not given them a satisfactory answer or compensation for their woes. At least 6 residents who spoke to reporters blamed the LTA and its construction on the DTL2 for their problems.

Two residents, Mr and Mrs Lim, serve as the spokespersons for the affected residents. The couple, who are in their 50s, said that repeated attempts to get the LTA and its contractors to be responsible have fallen on deaf ears.

In September 2011, cracks started to appear on the walls of their house. A year later, more cracks surfaced on their car porch roof, allowing rainwater to seep through and dislodging a shoe cabinet. Several tiles in the porch had also cracked and become dislodged.

After they lodged a complaint, LTA surveyed the defects and installed devices to track any widening of cracks. Instruments were also fixed outside a few houses to stabilise the ground.

LTA's Austrian contractor, Alpine Bau, also did some interim repairs on the couple's home in both 2011 and 2012, assuring them that full repairs will be conducted after the completion of the station.

However, Alpine Bau went bust in 2013 - before full repairs could be done - and a South Korean contractor, SK E&C, was appointed to take over construction works.

The Lims were left helpless after that.

In June 2014, the Lims and their immediate neighbour, who only wanted to be known as Mr Yang, discovered that they could not fully close the front gates as the wall supporting them had tilted to one side.

The new contractor, SK E&C installed a temporary metal bar to prevent the wall from tilting further. Mr Yang says that he too had made a similar request as Mr Lim, but his was rejected and he had to chisel away part of his wall for the gates to close. Mr Yang was told his cracks were caused by a palm tree outside his home.

Another resident, Mrs Tan, says that the construction caused her underground water pipes to burst twice, once in 2012 and then 2014. She discovered the leakages only after the Public Utilities Board billed her for a whopping $800 on average.

Besides being made to foot the huge water bill, she had to spend $3,450 to repair her pipes.

The People's Action Party's Member of Parliament for Holland-Bukit Timah Group Representation Constituency (GRC) Mr Christopher de Souza says he has made two home visits over the last couple of years.

"I have requested a compensation board to be convened to address the families' concerns in an impartial way to resolve the difference in views."

When asked for a response, LTA explained that a survey carried out in 2009 found that some houses had pre-existing cracks. Independent experts also later assessed that the construction works did not cause damage to the Duchess Road houses, added LTA.

The LTA spokesman said: "Residents who do not agree with the assessment made by the independent experts may refer their claims to an independent Compensation Board, which is headed by a District Judge."

The Compensation Board requires the residents to engage a lawyer - a move they have not been keen on as it would incur additional costs.

"We have invested $1 million of our life savings into building our dream house," Mrs Lim said with tears welling up in her eyes. "To be dealing with unaccounted damages like these for over five years now is really, very tiring. "

NIGHTCLUB OWNERS REFUSE TO PAY STAFF SALARIES EVEN AFTER MOM COMPLAINT

Rakes, the club at chijmes suddenly closed after 3 months of operations and our cocky ex bosses have refused to pay us our salaries despite our repeated attempts to try and get them to pay the salaries they owe to over 25 staffs.

Despite us bringing the matter to MOM, they have rudely replied they are not gonna pay. There are too many rogue bosses who dont pay salaries nowadays and they get away with it. My ex bosses ( guy and gordon macgregor) apparently think they will get away with it, citing financial difficulties. If that is so, explain why their first fnb outlet , house of dandy is still open, and why they drive luxury cars , a rolls royce no less?

Tired of their games.

We staffs just want our salaries!

HELP! MY PARENTS ABUSE ME WITH BELTS AND CLOTHESHANGER!

$

Dear admin,

My father is (in my opinion of course, maybe some wouldn't find this abuse) quite abusive towards me. He uses belts and clotheshangers to beat me, sometimes on the hand, sometimes on the head, sometimes in other places. This is every day Many times I've gone to school with huge red lines on my hands, and friends ask what happened, but I'm too embarrassed to say.

He also threatens telling my teachers I'm a delinquent who beats up many people. I don't want that of course, I'm someone who is quite studies-oriented and I want to do well, I want to go to university. My mum, she's somewhat complicit in these beatings, she never does anything and she's often mean to me, but she doesn't beat me.

Of course I try to defend myself, I hold up objects to protect myself, but my father would beat the shit out of me after that and I end up with more red lines, more injuries. Today I got beaten because I wanted some alone time after I had been very stressed due to school, and he said I had no right to be alone and immediately threatened me.

I honestly think he's a psychopath, or at least has huge temper problems, and definitely somewhat of an abuse one, but I can't do anything as if I'm put in foster care or something I wouldn't be able to afford any of the books/resources I need to do well, especially considering the high cost of things in the future.

I hope that somebody can advise me on what to do to get out of this traumatising situation... Thank you all.

WHERE DID ALL THE S'POREAN JOBS GO TO?

$
0
0

I refer to the article “Local workers, note where the job compass is pointing” (Straits Times, Jan 29).

Jobs growth: locals 100, foreigners 31,700?

It states that “The number of locals in jobs last year increased by just 100, near zero growth. It is the worst showing since the 1998 Asian financial crisis. Even during the Lehman Brothers collapse in 2008, more locals landed jobs then, than last year.

And almost all the employment growth last year – 31,800 more workers were in jobs – came from foreign workers.”

S’poreans’ unemployment rate unchanged?

As a follow-up to my article “99.7% of jobs growth to foreigners?” (Jan 28) – I find it rather puzzling that the unemployment rate for citizens remain unchanged when local jobs growth for 2015 was only 100 jobs.

New entrants to workforce?

Surely, the new entrants to the work force in the year may exceed those who died, retired, left Singapore and stopped looking for jobs.

50,000 new citizens & PRs?

Also, if the number of new citizens and permanent residents (PRs) granted in 2015 was about the same as the 50,202 (20348 new citizens + 29,854 new PRs) in 2014 – how is it possible that the local jobs growth was only 100?

Negative S’poreans’ job growth?

In view of the above, perhaps the true-blue Singaporeans’ job growth may have been negative in the thousands.

Reciprocate trust with more help?

Since the people have given their trust and mandate – shouldn’t we reciprocate by being more transparent?

DON'T SPEAK OUT OF HATRED, IGNORANCE ABOUT OTHER RELIGIONS

This intolerant person by the name of Elisa Thulasirani is spreading hatred between Christians and Muslims in Singapore by posting crap like this in her Facebook (refer to pictures). Some of the messages are pretty contradictory, wonder did she really read through the Quran and Hadith or simply cut paste from misleading websites.

Does her religion teaches her to mock on other religions? There are tonnes of websites over the internet that publishes on the flaws and inconsistencies of the Bible but common sense ( if this lady has one) will tell you how authenticated these websites are. So get your facts right before blindly commenting on other religions.

Be civilized and learn to respect other religions. We are living in a multi cultural society. Keep your views on religion to your own pethatic self. I hope the authorities will look into this matter.

OUR STAT BOARDS ARE DROPPING FROM 1ST TO 3RD WORLD STANDARDS!

<Reader Contribution>

Dear A.S.S,

On 8th Jan 2016, my company instructed our Secretary to change the company name. The ACRA/BIZFILE was giving much problem and has been ongoing for past few days. After many tries, he finally got it done just before 6 pm and emailed to inform us with the new Business Profile attached. That's when the real show starts.

When I opened up the Business Profile, I was surprised to see our new company name in both the "Company Name" and "Former Name, if any" fields. This obviously was not right. The "Incorporation Date" is correct and the "Status Date" showed the same date as "Incorporation Date". Again this was wrong.

After I highlighted this to the Company Secretary, he then reported this to ACRA on the same day, 8th Jan. We waited and finally on the 26th ACRA reverted back that it has been resolved and attached the "correct" Business Profile in the email. The moment I opened the attachment, I had a rude shocked. The "Former Company, if any" field is EMPTY !!
My goodness. The "Status Date" wasn't fixed either.

I understand that ACRA was trying to roll out a new system in December and it was full of teething problems that caused many delays in filings. While it is understandable that with any system roll-out there are bound to be some issues. BUT what I cannot fathom is that there is totally no material changes in the transaction, how could they not discovered these errors? There are existing system to verify and validate against so for such problems to appear, not once but twice is simply not acceptable.

It just makes you wonder did they even go through a thorough proper system UAT at all? How can such basic problem not been discovered and rectified before the system is even rolled-out?
This came immediately after the website issues at CPF and are these signs that things are indeed falling apart?

Hi I would like to establish this case so ppl will be aware.

This guy in the pic is named Murugasen S/O Palani. He was a good friend of mine.

He borrowed money from me saying he need to roll his business. This started 1st January 2015.

First he borrowed small amount. Then he retuned. Then borrowed again then returned. He started gaining my trust then borrowed a big amount.

He came home begging for the big amount till he felt on my feet and cried for the money.

I was put in a spot. He said he mother is very ill so need to bring her for treatment for overseas. So I borrowed him $50,000.

Since last year Chinese New Year he have not returned my money.

When I go up to his house to ask for my money he called police abs said I am harassing him.

The best part he just got married December last year. I really don't know how on earth ppl can do this. Such a shameless creature.

EVEN AFTER 70 YEARS, S'PORE'S MILITARY STILL WEAKER THAN JAPAN

$
0
0

I refer to the 30 Jan 2016 Straits Times letter "Don't underestimate need for strong military".

Mr Adrian Vianueva compared Singapore's unpreparedness during the Japanese invasion in World War II with the success by the British and Commonwealth in protecting Singapore during Konfrontasi and concluded that it was a strong military that made the difference.

Mr Vianueva is not comparing apple to apple. If the Japanese were to invade Singapore today, does Mr Vianueva think Singapore can successfully defend itself this time?

Global Fire Power 2016 ranks Japan 9th in global military power with a score of 0.3841. Singapore is ranked 26th with a score of 0.8587. Detailed comparison of firepower between the two countries can be found here http://www.globalfirepower.com/countries-comparison-detail.asp?form=form...

Thus, even today, Singapore continues to be much weaker than Japan militarily. Mr Vianueva's point about Singapore's defeat by the Japanese during WWII being the consequence of our military weakness must surely continue to apply today.

It is hypocritical to use our defeat by Japan during WWII to justify our high military spending today knowing that our high military spending today still doesn't allow us to defend ourselves against Japan.

Dear ASS

I'm submitting a few photos and a video of 2 boys catching fish illegally at Esplanade and hurting the fish.

They hook the bait on the fish so that they can take photo with their catch, hurting the fish in the process. The fish is out of the water for more than 20 minutes, and suffering from shock from the flashlight of the camera and also being out of water.

Please do not do such inhumane things, and I hope your readers will join me in condemning the 2 boys actions.

Eventually the boys only stop when I informed the on duty AETOS and Esplanade security.

I refer to the 31 Jan 2016 Straits Times report "Make S'pore a city for people, not cars: Minister".

Minister Lawrence Wong reportedly said that Singapore needs a "cultural shift" towards a "car-lite" future.

Minister Wong, don't just talk only, kindly lead by example by giving up your car please.

Architect Cai Bingyu was quoted saying "We have a convenient public transport system". But a lot of areas in Singapore are still not served by MRT and would require lots of waiting time and bus changes to reach. Even places served by MRT are plagued by persistent service unreliability and the MRT ride is often quite unpleasant being packed to the hilt.

NOTHING CONTRADICTORY IN WP'S NCMP STANCE, IT IS TYPICAL PAP SMEARING

$
0
0

I refer to the 30 Jan 2016 Straits Times report “Party’s transfer of vacant seat a political manouevre: PAP MPs”.

Spirit of NCMP scheme

While the spirit of the NCMP scheme is to offer a seat in parliament to the best performing opposition candidate who lost, performance is relative. All else being equal, opposition performance should be better against a weaker PAP candidate like Charles Chong as compared to against stronger PAP candidates like Minister Lim Swee Say and Minister of State Lee Yi Shyan.

Lee Li Lian’s higher percentage votes doesn’t automatically imply that she performed better than Daniel Goh. Because if these two candidates had swapped places during election 2015 with Daniel Goh pitted against the weaker Charles Chong and Lee Li Lian joining the fray against Minister Lim and Minister of State Lee, Daniel’s percentage vote might have been higher than what Lee Li Lian garnered while WP’s East Coast team might have fared worse than it did.

Hence, WP’s support for Daniel Goh to take up the NCMP position doesn’t necessarily go against the spirit of the NCMP scheme. WP is merely supporting the candidate it thinks had performed better.

No contradiction in WP position

There is no contradiction in WP taking up NCMP positions while opposing the NCMP scheme in principle.

What the opposition truly deserves is a level playing field in the political arena so that they can win seats in parliament unencumbered by an Everest of unfair PAP practices. In lieue of that, PAP throws the rag bone of the NCMP scheme. There is no contradiction in protesting one’s exclusion from feasting from the same table of exquisite political cuisine while taking up the rag bones of the NCMP thrown on the floor to sustain oneself to fight another day.

No revolving door

There has been no revolving door as far as WP is concerned because right from the start, WP’s chosen candidate for the NCMP post has always been Daniel Goh. That has never changed.

Conversely, the reshuffle of nearly all minister positions after every election is quite clearly multiple revolving doors. If multiple ministers go through revolving doors every 5 years, it gives the impression that these ministerial positions are very easy roles that can be filled by practically any Tom, Dick or Harry with no prior experience at the snap of the finger. Is it any wonder our housing policies flip flop like prata and our transport system is now choking with Khaw’s cholesterol?

Show case talent

PAP uses the GRC to parachute candidates it deems to be of ministerial calibre into parliament and after several terms, these seasoned ministers, having show cased their talent to the nation, then becomes strong enough to helm GRCs themselves. Isn’t the GRC, PAP’s tool to show case talent? PAP can show case talent, opposition cannot?

Mixed signals

Low Thia Khiang’s declaration that he would not take up an NCMP position, which means he would leave parliament if he lost, doesn’t conflict with his support for other WP candidates taking up the NCMP position.

It’s like George Yeo, who having lost in 2011, chose to quit politics. But George Yeo doesn’t go around and say Sitoh Yih Pin should not continue to be in politics after Mr Sitoh lost in his first two tries.

Duck weeds

Charles Chong shouldn’t begrudge what Minister Balakrishnan terms as “calling a spade a spade”. A duck weed is a duck weed. It is not a water lily and has no anchor to any constituency.

Not unfair to Punggol East voters

There is nothing unfair here as Punggol East residents didn’t lose anything because the NCMP position is by definition not tied to any constituency, certainly not Punggol East. Even if Li Lian took up the NCMP position, she will neither be obligated nor empowered to represent Punggol East because Punggol East didn’t give her the mandate to do so.

Charles Chong was wrong to say that sufficient Punggol East voters had given Lee Li Lian the mandate. It is precisely because insufficient Punggol East voters had given Li Lian the mandate, that Li Lian lost.

Charles Chong is mistaken, regardless of who takes up the NCMP position, the NCMP position is still a backdoor to enter parliament. The fact that Daniel Goh entered instead of Li Lian doesn’t make the backdoor any more backdoor.

It is Li Lian’s right to give up her NCMP position

Mr Chan said “the right and the privilege was given to (Ms Lee) by Punggol East residents. It was not for her to give it to someone else.”

Mr Chan is mistaken, if Punggol East residents had wanted to give Li Lian the right and the privilege, they would have voted her in. The fact that they didn’t means that as a whole, Punggol East residents chose not to give Li Lian that right and privilege.

MOTORIST: GANTRY PARKING SHOULD BE REMOVED AT HDB ESTATES!

Dear A.S.S,

I don't know how many of you have encounter this. My hdb area installed gantry parking. Once in a while the system will f*ck up and cant detect your IU unit. Its very frustrating especially peak hr when vehicles will just pile up behind u. Tried to speak with the customer service off thru the intercom and you will find the volume is super soft and u cant communicate over the intercom properly with vehicle engine running.

And Singapore drivers are f*ck up. Wait 5 min in queue, will start horning u. Its not like I doing it on purpose. I also want to go home, its my home carpark and its denying me entry. The customer service officer/ system is doing the delay as they want to check my vehicle number through verbal intercom communication. Why they don't install video cam to quicken the process, I dunoe.

And did you know even if install gantry, u still need summon aunties, cause of the 10 min exit rule. You can just go in and don't come out within 10 min to park at season parking carpark. So aunty is still needed to come down at night to check.

Sorry for the rant. Nearly fight with a driver who walk to my vehicle to tell me ppl are waiting for me behind.

Dear all,

Hello pinoy bitch, What are you trying to do. Sending pics like that to me. Shameless bitch, try to screw up my married life? Try again. If case you haven't know, my husband is with me almost 24/7 everyday beside from his work whom all his colleagues, I know them. You think sending pics like that and try to make me think you and him are together behind my back, clearly you don't know where you are standing.

What makes you think i will believe what you say. He already came clean to me about everything. Since you like snatching other people's boyfriend or husband, I don't think you will mind being trend and becoming famous. You want a bf that badly?! Let me help you out.

To the outside world, please careful of this pinoy, she will do anything to snatch your bf or husband. My husband and her used to be together but that's long long history. Apparently, she still cant get over him so she tried to stir shit up by sending me pics of her and my husband together and lie to me, saying my husband is seeing her behind my back when my husband is with me almost everyday except when he is working.
