I COMMANDED 2 NSF RECRUITS TO SIT DOWN & REST IN THE EMPTY TRAIN

$

"I saw two recruits standing hesitantly in the empty train, unsure of whether to sit or not.

I told them to sit as the trai was empty and they were still hesitant, politely declining. Then I said, ""Eh recruit, I'm a officer and I order you to sit! Anybody say anything ask them to look for Major Lim from XXX camp!"" To which they profusely thanked me and sat.

Actually, I was a clerk in army a long time ago but I think this situation is ridiculous and I think I'm doing my part to protect our young soldiers from the assholes in the public. Come complain me lah!

To every non retarded public member, be understanding. Just let the bloody recruits sit down in the train! "

MALAY SAF MAJOR: IF YOU ARE THE BEST, MALAYS CAN GO FAR IN THE SAF

$

There still exist, in the larger community, the misconception that Malays do not hold Key Appointments in the Military. And Malays are passed over when it comes to Promotion and consideration for sensitive appointments.

In many cases, all these hearsay is from baseless tongue wagging unverified claims.

Today as I go to work, I know I'm sitting in a position that affects how our soldiers train, the facilities they will use in future, the way we carry out our business.. And yes I am Malay and I am doing what most people in my community think, is a job that Malays will never sit in.

At the same time, my fellow Malay friends and seniors are sitting in Key positions of Command as well in offices in the Ministry of Defence, doing again, what most people in my community think, Malays will never do.

The organization that I have gladly served for the past 14 years, has never been biased nor have never judged me based on my race. It's who best fits the job.. And if there is someone who fits e job better than me, I will gladly let him have the job.

Henceforth, please eradicate all notions that Malays will never go far in e Military. Because I work with people everyday, who prove this theory wrong.

We succeed because of e values and ethics we hold..

And if we fail, it will be because we didn't try hard enough.. And not because of e color of our skin.

Cheers..

Major Ryhan Husainni

An Australian barbecue event has caused a fiery spat between Singapore locals and the ruling party's grassroots supporter base.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott and his Singapore counterpart Lee Hsien Loong were photographed flipping steaks at one of the '50 BBQs' hosted by Singapore's Australian High Commission to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Australia on Sunday.

But just hours before the first steak was set to sizzle, locals were outraged to learn that attendance would be restricted by a ticketing system controlled by the People's Association, the grassroots supporters of the ruling People's Action Party.

Hi SGH,

Dr Ng Yee Sien, Head of Rehabilitation just quoted this to my mother about my sister who has been hospitalized for 6 months. He emotionally threaten my mother by saying my sister will never recover and my mum told him he is not God to determine her life.

Dr Ng responded by saying he is the God to determine in the hospital. All these was for the purpose of forcing my sister to be discharged.. So may I know SGH allows such doctors to do their practice?

This was said by him in the presence of another doctor in his team. I would expect an answer from the board of SGH and I will be escalating this matter of inappropriate professionalism of emotional threatening of your doctors on my family members.

POVERTY STRICKEN MAN HAS NOT BATHED IN 10 YEARS RECEIVES HELP FROM NGO

For 10 years, 77 year-old Zhu Jin Yuan has lived without brushing his teeth, bathing or cleaning up the trash in his house.

Neighbors living nearby know the man and his house by the terrible stench coming out of his 7th storey flat at Block 106, Jalan Bukit Merah. They also described the man as severely unkempt - neighbors have spotted large blood-suckinng ticks crawling on the man's body.

When the media visited the man's flat, reporters could smell the odious stench from afar.

According to a neighbor, 40 year-old Madam Lim, Mr Zhu has been living at the unit for over 20 years, loves rearing cats and usually spends his time sitting at the stone bench below his block.

The founder of non-governmental organization "Keeping Hope Alive", Ms Fion Phua, discovered the man by chance when her staff were distributing free durians for residents near Mr Zhu's block.

When volunteers eventually turned up at his house, what shocked her was the state of the man's house.

"He didn't even have a tooth brush or a bar of soap. When asked if he hasn't brushed his teeth or bathed in for over 10 years, he kept quiet and mumbled that he hasn't." Ms Phua said.

There were nests of ticks and other insects crawling around his dilapidated home, and Ms Phua's volunteers saw first-hand how ticks would crawl out and around Mr Zhu's body and clothes even as he walked around doing his daily business.

With the goal of helping Mr Zhu improve his personal circumstances, Ms Phua's volunteers set out to clean Mr Zhu's house and provide him with a much needed make-over.

Ignoring the stench, Ms Phua's hardworking and gutsy volunteers cleaned out Mr Zhu's home, bringing in stocks of soap and hygiene products for Mr Zhu's future use.

Ms Phua also realized that the man was having breathing difficulties, possibly from living in a dirty environment for too long, and arranged for him to visit a doctor.

Volunteers helped Mr Zhu get rid of the ticks on his body, using paper tissues to squash the blood sucking ticks on Mr Zhu's body, clip his toe and finger nails and wipe off the dried mucus and dirt on his body.

After discovering that Mr Zhu was rearing 5 cats in his home despite having no money for regular meals for himself, volunteers convinced Mr Zhu to give up his pets so that they could seek a better home.

All 5 cats were infested by fleas and were seen constantly scratching themselves till they bled. One of the cats has gone blind, possibly due to an untreated illness. The cats were handed over to Voices for Animals, an NGO animal help group.

LOCAL PROSTITUTES JAILED FOR TRYING TO ROB INDIAN WORKER AFTER THREESOME

$

In desperate need of money, 2 local women came up with a plan to rob their next customer of his valuables after performing a "threesome" with him.

On 5th September 2013, 32 year-old Ang Hui Ying, unemployed, and her friend 24 year-old Nurul Bayah Abdullah, a former waitress, headed to Desker Road, where they offered both of themselves to a 34 year-old Indian foreign worker for $50.

Thinking that he had gotten a deal of the lifetime for a threesome, the foreigner went with the 2 women to a hotel along Syed Alwi Road to perform the deed.

Once in the room, Nurul rummaged through the worker's belongings while he was in the bath with Ang, making away with a Samsung S3 worth $350 and $150 in cash before fleeing the hotel.

When the man came out of the shower and discovered that Nurul and his valuables were missing, Ang feigned ignorance and took the chance to flee when her customer was downstairs talking with security personnel.

What Ang didn't count on was her own carelessness - she left her passport in the hotel.

Police arrested both Nurul and Ang 2 days later.

Police investigators found that both women had conspired together to rob their customer of his belongings on the pretext of performing a threesome with him, and once done, they would split the finds 50-50.

Nurul was sentenced last year February to 4 weeks jail for her offence, while Ang received her 10 day jail sentence today.

TODDLER FIGHTS FOR HIS LIFE IN ICU AFTER BEING SCALDED BY HOT OIL

15 month-old Aafaa Zuhayr Muhammad Al-Khair wandered innocently into the kitchen in his home, curious as all toddlers are about their surroundings.

What he didn't expect was to topple over a hot frying pan filled with sizzling oil which his mother, 31 year-old Madam Masshitah Abdullah, had placed to cool on the stove.

Madam Masshitah was in another room at the time of the accident, but rushed over the moment she heard the pan topple and her toddler's screams of pain. There, she was horrified to discover that the hot oil had scalded her baby's face, body and arms, causing his skin to become red and swollen.

Aafaa suffered 2nd degree burns to his skin after the incident on 22nd June and has been fighting for his life in an intensive care unit (ICU) of KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH). He had his 4th operation yesterday.

Madam Masshitah and her 30 year-old property agent husband, Mr Muhammad Al-Khair Salahuddin are now spending almost all their time at KKH, praying and hoping for his recovery.

Madam Masshitah revealed that she couldn't accept her toddler's injuries at first: "I kept asking the doctor if that's my son."

"I just wanted my baby. I couldn't really hold him and could only see him from afar," She added. "I'm so afraid to fall asleep. Whenever a doctor runs into the ICU, my heart would stop for a while, wondering if anything had happened to my son."

MY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH RECRUIT EXPRESS JOB AGENCY

$
0
0

Dear Editors,

I want to relate my horrible encounter with staff from Recruit Express job agency and a gentle warning to all jobseekers about their ethics.

Recently, I have submitted my resume through online job portal for some temp job positions. It stated very clearly that on-the-job training will be provided and no experience is required and I perfectly fit the job requirement.

After sending imy resume out for less than half an hour, I received a call from a person by the name of Ben in response to the position which I have sent in.

He was enthusiastic after seeing my resume and ask me what have I been doing since my last job and I replied him that I was not working for the past 1 year. Immediately, his attitude changed and quickly ended the conversation saying that he will contact me when there is a vacancy. The conversation lasted for only 2 minutes.

After 5 minutes, I called him again to inform that I was applying for the position of medical social assistant as he thought I have sent in for the admin position.

He insisted that the position is taken up already and there is no vacancy. Actually in total, there were 3 advertisements posted for the position of medical social assistant, temp admin and accounts.

All of these positions are posted by the same group of people Benedict and Michelle Lee Ser Min. I was feeling weird about his reply as it seems that how could all the 3 advertisement jobs been taken up so fast and why would he call me if the positions are already taken up.

For curiosity purposely, I called him up the third time and I asked him again whether all the vacancies for medical social assistant, temp admin and accounts have really been taken up.

This time round Ben confirmed and replied firmly again that all these jobs were taken up already and currently there is no vacancy. His reply made me very annoyed because I felt insulted by his discrimination against me and I decided to escalate this matter up.

Now, Michelle Lee and Kylie(Manager) came and attended to my complaint and apologised for the incident.

They also confirmed that all the three advertised jobs are STILL AVAILABLE. That was where I asked them why did Ben insisted that the jobs are all taken up although they are still available.

A few hours later, Kylie investigated and unwillingly informed me that Ben has admitted to bluffing me on the unavailability of the positions but he dare not admit why and said that “he don’t know why he said that to me”.

Kylie assured me that she will forward my complaint to the HR department and there is nothing much she could do except to warn her staff verbally.

The following day, I contacted the HR personnel by the name of Karen Lee and realised that she has not receive anything regarding the complaint.

I got to know from Karen Lee that Kylie wrote in the email to HR department that it was just a mere “tactfulness” issue and Ben should have been more tactful in his words towards candidates in future.

Karen also tried to defend Ben discriminatory action claiming that it was rightful for him to say that because he don’t know whether the jobs are available or not because he is just a temp HR coordinator working as an assistant for the Consultant Michelle Lee.

This is utterly crap because job agencies are actually supposed to get the permission from the jobseekers before sending the resumes over to the employer but Ben did not even bother to explain any details regarding the job and discriminated me as a low quality candidate by not offering to send my resume over to the employers.

As such, I tried to escalate the matter to Karen Lee’s superior Lim Swee Kim since she has failed to address the matter appropriately by defending Ben who is unethically wrong.

I told them that Jobseekers are NOT high or low class prostitutes and they are not pimps running brothels. There is no way why I should be treated with discrimination by the recruitment consultants.

As I tried to escalate the matter to the Director Miss Lim Swee Kim, HR executive Karen Lee and Annabelle from Recruit Express threatened that they have reported me to the police.

For this entire incident, I have all the concrete voice conversation exchange between all the staffs of Recruit Express and myself so there is nothing to be worried about their malicious attempt to downplay the incident.

Due to this bad encounter, I went on to do a research and realised that Recruit Express is already having a very bad reputation in several reviews I found online like those in http://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Recruit-Express-Reviews-E321279.htm and Hardwarezone forum etc.

Meanwhile, I have also checked with MOM on this matter and the supervisor there by the name of Alvin Chen Ziyang said it is perfectly fine so long they did not say it directly in writing or verbally and that they are rejecting my application because I didn’t work for a period of time.

Regards

Johnny

HONG KONG STUDENT UNION PROTEST AGAINST SG GOVT TO RELEASE AMOS YEE

Hong Kong student group Scholarism has urged the Singapore government to release teenage blogger Amos Yee, who was last month convicted for posting a controversial video attacking late prime minister Lee Kuan Yew and deliberately hurting the feeling of Christians in a YouTube video criticising the late Mr Lee.

The 16-year-old is currently remanded for two weeks at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) to undergo psychiatric examination.

The group condemned the Singapore government for remanding Yee because of one video and fails to allow dissidents and different voices.

The Singapore government detained a teenager because of one video. This only shows Singapore, a so-called modernised society, fails to allow dissidents and different voices.

It said that under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, young people’s freedom of speech should be protected from government infringements.

In a seperate Facebook post, the Hong Kong University Students’ Union (HKUSU) said: “Any act of trampling human rights and manipulating the freedom of thought must be condemned.”

Scholarism, HKUSU and and Lingnan University Students’ Union will stage a petition outside the Singaporean consulate in Admiralty today afternoon (30th June) to call for Yee’s immediate release.

Solidarity Gathering for Amos Yee planned in Penang

A “Solidarity Gathering for Amos Yee” has also been planned for tomorrow (1st July) at Penang Speakers’ Square in Penang, malaysia.

In a Facebook post, the organiser said that “expression is not a crime and nobody should face inhuman treatment or torture for criticising the government.

Taiwan’s NGO staged similar protest

Earlier on 26th June, Taiwan’s Covenant Watch Group together with a number of non-governmental organisations [Link] organised a protest outside the Singapore Trade Office in Taipei.

They were protesting against the continued detention of Amos Yee. Representatives from the various organisations of Taiwanese civil society are demanding his immediate release.

During the demonstration, a letter of protest was handed to the Singapore Trade Office. Sean Bai, Senior Assistant Trade Representative, accepted the letter on behalf of the trade office. In response to media query, Mr Bai said that the matter is currently under judicial review and declined comment.

The Covenants Watch Group said that it had specifically chosen this day, 26 June, to act in support of Yee, as it is the United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture.

The group felt that no person should be subjected to torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, especially not for someone who is still a child.

Additionally, the United Nations Human Rights Office (OHCHR) and Bangkok-based Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights have also called for Yee’s immediate release.

The Singapore government has so far remained absolutely silent.

AUSTRALIAN GAMBLER SUES RWS FOR MANHANDLING HIM AFTER HE GOT DRUNK

$

0

In an ugly incident in April 2012, Adesh Goel got into a drunken altercation with another patron after a big night at the Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) casino.

Security personnel reacted promptly to separate the 2 patrons, opting to secure Adesh in a small room to the side of the high rollers' floor - where the casino's biggest players duke it out in high stakes games. As a precaution, they surrounded him with security guards.

But this is where the story diverges.

According to Adesh, who is now suing RWS for an upwards of $1 millions dollars in compensation, for losses he suffered and exemplary damages.

He accused RWS of conducting itself "with a haughty and high-handed attitude during and after the incident", saying that the casino remains "totally unapologetic, defiant and obstructive in the face of the fact that [he] suffered serious personal injuries, pain and suffering as a direct consequence of the entirely unjustified and disproportionate actions."

Adesh says that on the night of the dispute, he had been granted access to a VIP lounge on 22nd April, but had gotten into a quarrel with another patron at about 4.30AM. By 4.55AM, he was separated from the other patron and asked to go to a private room.

There, he says, 2 Sentosa seucirty staff locked him in the room and refused him access to the gaming manager. 3 other security personnel who looked like police officers arrived, and Adesh asked to leave but was refused.

Adesh decided to make a police report claiming that he was being unlawfully detained and assaulted, and tried to leave the room to record the names of the security guards holding him "hostage". The struggle turned violent as security guards forcefully pinned him to the wall and confiscated his phone, forcing him to sit down on a chair.

In a panic, Adesh tried to barricade himself in the room with chairs and got into further altercations with security personnel. By 6AM, he had allegedly sustained a broken collarbone and left the casino escorted by a convoy of police officers.

In response to Adesh's accusations, Genting disputed his allegations and launched a counter-suit against Adesh. According to Genting's lawyers, Adesh behaved aggressively and security personnel followed protocol to stop him from leaving the room because he was agitated and posed a risk to other patrons.

Genting also added that Goel's injuries were not a result of the struggle and may have been already present at the time of the incident or caused by "unruly behavior in the side room".

In the course of the trial, Adesh's lawyers have also leveled accusations against the Singapore Police Force, arguing that the police have withheld police and investigation reports from them pertaining to the night of the dispute, and had closed the case prematurely without conducting proper investigations.

Goel says that when he first made his call, he had spoken to a police officer for over 3 minutes, and what he said should have been recorded into a police report. Instead, his lawyers received a police report which only contained one line, "I had been assaulted by the security here", it read.

His lawyers also asked why police investigations were discontinued in circumstances where Goel had not even been interviewed, and accused "certain quarters within the Singapore Police Force" of acting in concert" with RWS to "suppress information of wrongdoings committed by the staff."

The Deputy Public Prosecutor for the Singapore Attorney-General Office has shot down Goel's lawyers accusations, saying that the letter's "tone and contents" were unwarranted and that all the requested police documents had been handed over as requested.

The case is ongoing.

SCDF AND SPF TO ASSESS SAFETY OF SINGAPORE COLOR RUN IN WAKE OF TAIWAN FIRE

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force have received an application by the Singapore Color Run organizers for a permit to hold their event, said the SPF in a statement today. The agencies will be considering the safety aspects of the run before deciding on whether to grant the go-ahead.

This follows a tragic incident in Taiwan, New Taipei City, where flammable powder ignited a crowd of revelers who were there for Color Play Asia at the Formosa Fun Coast Water Park last weekend. The fire injured over 500 people, with 180 of them in intensive care units, and caused the death of 1 20 year-old Taiwanese girl who sustained 90% burns on her body.

The joint SPF and SCDF statement:

"The Singapore Police Force has received applications for the Color Run event. The SPF and SCDF are studying the Taiwan fire incident and working with the event organiser on the use of coloured powder at the event. We will assess all safety aspects associated with the use of coloured powder, before granting any approval for the Color Run or other similar events."

PEOPLE'S ASSOCIATION DENIES HOGGING AUSTRALIAN BBQ TICKETS, SAYS TICKETS WERE FIRST COME FIRST SERVED

$

The People's Association (PA) has flat out denied hogging tickets to the "first come first served" mass barbeque event organized by the Australian High Commission. The BBQ took place simultaneously at 20 locations in Singapore in celebration of 50 years of good Singapore-Australia ties.

In its statement, the PA said a total of 4,800 tickets were given out, and explained that the ticketing system was to control the crowds and assure ticket holders the chance to enjoy their food.

PA's statement comes in the wake of a massive public outcry over the PA's missteps in its management of the event. Some people who were turned away from the event complained that they were told they needed a ticket for the event only when they turned up. Netizens have also accused the PA of giving tickets to grassroots volunteers and PA staff first while leaving few tickets for the public.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his Australian counterpart Tony Abbott were at one of the barbecues at Bishan Park, which saw a turnout of as many as 2,000 people.

Other locations included community centres, James Cook University, Jem Shopping Mall, Haji Lane and other public spaces.

The PA said "publicity for the events was done locally, through posters on noticeboards and through online channels".

"As the evening progressed, our volunteers welcomed people until the food ran out.".

MUSLIM RADICALISATION THE FAULT OF S'PORE'S FOREIGN TALENT POLICY?

$

In his latest remarks urging our Muslims to be alert to radicals, the Second Minister for Home Affairs, Masagos Zulkifli, warned of the growing presence of and threats posed by “absolutists” in the community.

He advised that Muslims should not easily “succumb” to the views and opinions of “absolutists”.

“They may look attractive, they may look correct,” he said, “but do not be gullible.”

Mr Masagos warned that these “absolutists” interpret the teachings of Islam in a rigid way, and that those who disagreed with their views were seen as “un-Islamic”, for example.

The emergence of these “absolutists” could be a result of religious teachers coming here from “all over” the world.

“The variations of Islam they embrace are ‘very cultural’, and some of the conflicts experienced in other countries are brought to Singapore”, he told CNA on Sunday.

An Indian Muslim friend tells me that the FT religious leader for his community can only come from a paerticular village and can only speak the dialect of the area he comes from. His Koranic knowledge comes from memorising the Koran. How does this amount to a talent policy?

Btw, the NUS Law School should seriously look at stopping the import of foreign trash. I mean a law professor who has regular sex a student and claims he has academic integrity? And claims he was fixed because he criticised our judges? Academics are not supposed to have sex with their students, ever. https://atans1.wordpress.com/2013/01/16/reputations-be-mean-laugh/

And now another FT faculty member beats up a taxi uncle.

HENG SWEE KEAT NEEDS TO RESIGN FOR TKPS KINABALU MISADVENTURE

$
0
0

29th June 2015, Monday

Minister Heng
Dear Mr Heng Swee Keat,

I refer to your post: [ LINK ]

With regards to your message in response to tragedy at Mt. Kinabalu. It cannot be more appropriate than now to send you this open letter, being the first day of a new school term, and considering how painful especially today for the parents of those 12-year old kids who had lost their lives in the tragic trekking trip at Mount Kinabalu on 5th June 2015.

Yes, it was most unfortunate. Yes, it was most painful. No words, no words can assuage the pain and hurt. Fine, you had made your appearance Fine, you had sent out your message of condolence. But does it just end there?

Technically, you may readily say that the earthquake is a natural disaster. But, can your responsibility as a Leader, as a Minister be explained away by technical terms?

What about your moral sense?

What about that moral sense that is outside the use of reason?

The lives of some 12 year old kids were cut short.

Yes, their parents signed the indemnity – but that was because they trusted the Ministry of Education, that the Ministry would recommend the best for their child. And – you are the Minister heading the Ministry of Education.

Let me post these questions to you, which as a Leader, as a Minister, you should answer, whether in your part or on behalf of your subordinates:

Can you say that you are not aware of the trip?

Can you say that you, as the head of the Ministry are not part of the approval given?

And – did you climb the mountain before giving your approval?

Have you assessed whether the climb is suitable for 12-year old kids?

Have you considered the safety factor in the case of unforeseen circumstances?

Or did you just rely on some beautiful marketing brochure from the operator to give your approval?

Or did you just leave it to the School Division while you sit behind the comfort of your desk?

Given the fact that you are a Leader, you are a Minister heading the Ministry of Education, we would expect that you would have considered these factors and that you would have the foresight to consider all factors surrounding this trekking trip.

I put it that you were part of the approval process and you had facilitated this tragic trip.

Now – comes your moral obligation: Don’t you know as a leader, as a Minister, every approval implies a responsibility, an obligation, a duty, and a moral sense that cannot be ascribed and explained in technical terms?

And as a leader, where lies your moral distinction?

Certainly not simply on your superficial message of condolence.

Moral sense fundamentally lies in sentiments, a quality that should be ascribed to a Leader.

It is the primary source of moral knowledge. Reason or reasoning is not the source of moral distinction.

What moral sense approves of is “the general calm desire of the happiness of others” (Hutcheson); and moral approval is caused if not constituted by the contemplation of a Leader without reference to his or her particular interest. This is the operation of affection, an analogical association that the pains of others are communicated to a Leader.

Reason is not sufficient to substantiate the way that morality does. As a Leader, we expect you to have this moral sense: Moral sense is the source of justifying reasons, not instilling or exciting reasons.

So, where about is your moral distinction that must come with the role of a Leader?

As a Leader, you must have the quality of moral distinction, to admit responsibilities, whether in favour or adversity; otherwise, anyone can be a leader.

Yes, as a Leader and a Minister you get the full weight of praises and pretty shots in the State media when things are favourable. Surely in the same parallel, when tragedy like this happens, which has caused the loss of lives, a message of condolence cannot suffice.

You have yet to reach a moral conclusion, for moral conclusion cannot be reached by reason alone.

I put it that you must recognize that as a Leader, as a Minister, you are bound not only by technical responsibilities – your technical responsibilities must be substantiated by a moral sense.

Your superficial message of condolence is not enough. You must substantiate it in the display of your moral sense, if you have any at all.

I am writing to you as a citizen of Singapore. as a member of the public, as a person with sense, one who shares the pain of the parents of those 12-year old kids and the families of the teachers and guides who had lost their lives in a trekking trip facilitated by your Ministry of Education, to tell you:

Your stepping down is appropriate.
Your stepping down is absolutely necessary to demonstrate to the people of Singapore that you have a moral sense.
Your stepping down will still see you having some integrity.
Your stepping down will still see you having some moral sense.
The tragedy was most unfortunate.

Your not stepping down will be even more unfortunate.

Please step down.

Ms Christina Yew, Singaporean

POLICE REPORT MADE AGAINST MAN WHO THREATENED TO RAPE AMOS YEE

A police report has been made against a certain ‘Nigel Kee’ on Facebook, the man who offered to pay for teenage blogger Amos Yee “to get rape in prison”.

The report was made in person by Mr Lee at the Tanglin Police Division HQ on Tuesday (30th June).

In the report, Mr Lee said that he is “very distressed to know that a person by the name of Nigel Kee said in his Facebook post that he will pay for someone to ‘rape’ Amos Yee.”

Mr Lee says the threat could be a breach of the Penal Code’s Section 503, which refers to “Criminal Intimidation”.

Mr Lee believes that a possible reason why Nigel Kee had made such a threat against the teenager was because of an earlier incident where a grassroots leader, Jason Tan Kok Whee, had similarly made a threat of violence against Amos Yee, but who was only given a “stern warning” by the police.

It is believed that Nigel Kee think that he will not get punishment by making such a criminal offence, I believed he is trying to despise the legal institution of Singapore by challenging it.

Mr Lee is asking the police to take “necessary action” against Nigel Kee.

When TRE checked Nigel Kee’s Facebook page, it has either been deleted or made private and no longer accessible to the public.

Through netizens’ CSI efforts, Nigel Kee is believed to be an employer or an employee at a Tyre & Battery shop. It is not know if he is a grassroots leader.

Amos concerned with rape threat

Mary Toh, the mother of the 16-year-old blogger has said that Amos is concerned about the rape threat made on him.

Thinking of the threats and dangers [he might face if he were to be sent to prison] aggravates his mental condition.

Amos is currently still remanded at the Institute of Mental Health and is due back in court on 6th July where it is believed that he will either be sentenced to 18 months at RTC or serve a 2 year MTO.

It is unlikely that Amos will get a jail term with time-served as the prosecution had deemed it (jail sentence) inappropriate and had consistantly insisted that Amos be sent to RTC.

ROY NGERNG: I AM GOING TO COURT TO DECIDE HOW MUCH DAMAGES TO PAY PM LEE

Hello everyone, I will be busy with my defamation suit for the next 3 days.

I will be at the hearing with the Singapore prime minister Lee Hsien Loong, to decide how much I have to pay him.

(The prime minister has filed for the defamation suit in the High Court which oversees cases of more than S$250,000.)

The hearing will be held from 1 to 3 July, from Wednesday to Friday, from 10am everyday at Court 4D. It will be an open trial.

I won’t be able to post as many updates on Amos Yee due to this.

Do keep up with the advocacy.

There will be an event of solidarity for Amos tomorrow in Penang in Malaysia.

Earlier today, the people in Hong Kong held a protest outside the Consulate-General of the Republic of Singapore, and last Friday, the Taiwanese also did it outside the Singapore Trade office in Taipei.

They have submitted their protest to the official government overseas missions.

We must continue to speak up against the wrongful persecution of Amos Yee.

He has to be released.

And we must continue to speak up so that the citizens of Singapore can be protected.

Today, Singaporeans earn one of the lowest wages among the highest-income countries while the ministers earn the highest salaries in the world.

Yet, the Singapore government also spends the least on healthcare, education and social protection on Singaporeans among the developed countries, as a percentage of GDP.

The government also takes the CPF pension funds of Singaporeans to earn in the two government investment firms, GIC and Temasek Holdings.

But where the GIC and Temasek Holdings have become among the 11 richest sovereign wealth funds in the world on the back of Singaporeans’ pension funds, Singaporeans’ own pension funds have instead become one of the least adequate in the world.

So much so that Singaporeans have to pay the most in the world, for out-of-pocket expenditure for healthcare and for university tuition fees and it is estimated that 30% of Singaporeans are living in poverty today.

It is wrong that our elderly Singaporeans are unable to retire today, because they have not been paid enough in wages, and are not given back the returns on their pension funds.

It is wrong that low- and lower middle-income Singaporeans are unable to make ends meet today, because the government refuses to implement a minimum wage to increase their wages and allow them to have enough to use.

It is wrong that our children are unfairly persecuted just for criticising a man whom the government is trying to protect.

It is wrong when our children and ordinary citizens are being persecuted when those close to the ruling party are allowed to go scot-free.

We cannot allow such abuse of power to continue, to threaten the very lives of the citizens.

We cannot allow such unfairness and inequality to persist in our society.

We have to fight back and take a stand.

CERTIS CISCO POLICE VAN OPENLY FLOUTS TRAFFIC RULES & REGULATIONS

Dear Editors,

Please see our "law abiding" LAW ENFORCEMENT. I saw this Certis Cisco Auxiliary Police armoured van parked along the road. Is this right? Law enforcers breaking the law blatantly?

The auxiliary police van YN912Z was 'parking' on a double yellow line and worse it was parking against the flow of traffic.

So this is OK? This is what happens when they are given TOO MUCH authority... Please share!
