NTU PRC SCHOLAR DIES FROM 3 STOREY FALL, FRIENDS SUSPECT FOUL PLAY

Year 4 Nanyang Technological University (NTU) student Gao HY, who was identified as a SM2.5 PRC scholar on the Electrical Engineering (EEE) degree track, was found lying in a pool of blood on the ground floor of Hall 10 (Block 51) on Sunday.

She was discovered by friends, who saw her bleeding profusely from the head. They called the police, who later cordoned off the area and covered her body with a large white sheet.

Although the case has been classified as a possible suicide, friends and schoolmates find it hard to believe that Gao would take her own life.

According to her friends, Gao had been in high spirits the last they saw her on Friday. She had just received her results and seemed happy that she would be graduating from NTU with a 1st class honours.

They also found it hard to believe that Gao would die from 3 storey drop. Based on the height of the fall, her injuries were unlikely to have been fatal, if not for the direction of Gao's fall.

Eye witnesses who saw the body said that her head was probably the first point of impact with the ground, which raises suspicions about whether Gao was pushed or had jumped down.

"I saw her after I finished my exams in BLK 49, she waved to me and looked like her usual cheerful self. I can't believe she would commit suicide," said one of her schoolmates.

"After we finished our exams, we went out in a big group to have fun. HY also went with us. This incident happened after the release of our results, and it's strange that local news has not reported on her suicide yet. I guess the police are still trying to figure out the reason behind her death."

YOUTH COUNSELOR JAILED FOR NAKED PHOTOS OF 12 YEAR-OLD GIRL

A 39 year-old youth counselor was sentenced to 7 months jail after he admitted to taking indecent photographs of a 12 year-old girl in his home today. The man, who cannot be named due to a court gag order, had lured the young girl to his Ang Mo Kio home on 25th April 2012, where he committed the offences.

In court today, lawyers told the court that the accused was a friend of the girl's mother, and he was a familiar face to the girl as she would address him as "uncle". The girl would sometimes ask the man for money and he would give her between $2 to $10.

On 25th April, the 12 year-old girl and her 17 year-old friend were loitering at the void deck when they decided to call the accused to ask for $300 to buy a handphone. He later invited the both of them to his house later in the day, where he told them that he could teach them how to make more money by becoming "hostesses".

He asked the victim to strip naked, and although she was initially reluctant, she agreed after some persuasion. After getting her to strike a pose on his bed, he took a photograph of her.

In his defence, lawyer S.S. Dhillon said that his client had been an active participant in the community and had been engaged by several MOE-run schools to be a youth counselor. He also pointed out that the victim herself was a willing participant in the incident. According to Dhillon, the girl's case file stated that she was a former delinquent who was previously admitted to a girl's home, and she also had a history of having sex with other men, who were later prosecuted for having sex with a minor.

For his offences, the 39 year-old counselor could have been jailed 5 years, fined $10,000 or both.

INDIAN CITY AUTHORITIES PAY RESIDENTS TO USE PUBLIC TOILETS

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), a city council in India, is giving out 1 rupee (2 Singapore cents) to every resident in the city who uses the public toilet there, according to news agencies.

This in a bid to stop India's unruly population from defecating and urinating in public areas and walls, which are often seen soaked with urine. The stench of human waste is a ubiquitous presence in Indian cities.

AMC health officials said that the offer would be trialed at 67 public facilities across Ahmedabad, which is located in Gujarat state. Officers will be stationed outside public toilets where they will hand a coin to each user.

"Once successful, the project will be implemented in all the 300 public toilets in Ahmedabad," an AMC health officer said.

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi launched a public cleanliness campaign last year to combat the global image of India as a place that is sorely lacking in hygiene.

S'PORE'S MILLION DOLLAR MINISTERS MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR KINABALU TRAGEDY

$

Several students and a teacher from TanjongKatong Primary School were killed in the recent Sabah quake.

I was quite shocked to read an overly defensive comment which compared climbing Mt. Kinabalu to “walking up BukitTimah Hill.”

For starters, a “hill” is defined as “a naturally raised area of land, not as high or craggy as a mountain.” Mt. Kinabalu is 4,095 m while BukitTimah Hill is 164m. A comparison of maps between the mountain and hill also show the difference in terms of scale and associated terrain.

A seismology expert, Dr MohdRosaidiCheAbas, 54, said the threat of an earthquake in Malaysia cannot be ignored, including “Sabah and Sarawak [which] are located close to the earthquake zone of South Philippines and North Sulawesi.”

Earthquakes have erupted at Mount Kinabalu every year for at least the past 10 years, and the route has been described as a very rough trek.

kinabalu_past10years

Some comments from people who have been on the mountain before:

1) “I climbed the mountain before. I must say I was shocked for a school to embark on such an expedition trip for primary students.” — Randy Chong

2) “I was there on 5-6 may this year. I personally think this is a bit challenging for young children of such ages. Deepest condolences to victims’ families. — David Chia

3) “My 39 yr old daughter went there two weeks before the quake. She said she would not approve if any of her kids would want to take the expedition. What information was given to parents that made them approved their kids for this expedition?” — Mr. A

I have read quite a few comments which say that the authorities cannot be blamed for a natural disaster.

It is true that people cannot be blamed for the actual occurrence of the earthquake. The question is why young children are being approved to be sent to this mountain for “school excursions” when this area is a known danger zone.

Take for example, texting and driving. Just because a person drives and texts once and doesn’t get into trouble, doesn’t mean they’ll always have luck on their side. A tragic end sometimes comes sooner rather than later, and it is especially tragic when the situation is avoidable. Why would any parent want to put their child in a risky situation in the first place?

Some quotes by parents which reflect this view:

1) “People are saying no one could have predicted the quake and that it could well have struck Disneyland Tokyo. So we shouldn’t criticize the school or ask for a ban on such overseas excursions. I beg to differ as a parent. . .No incident doesn’t mean there will never be one. Try telling those grieving parents, ‘Accidents bound to happen, lah!’ And why in the world are primary school kids climbing mountains overseas?”
— Andrew Tan

2) “PM Lee, I urge your good self and MOE to review allowing our primary school children to embark on such perilous trips. In our days, excursions were none other than PulauUbin or St John Island. Even though this is a natural disaster, the burden of failing their parents are simply too great on the teachers and schools.” — Lance Foo

3) “Please instruct MOE to seriously review school excursions for primary school kids. They are too young to go for such high risk adventures. It is tough for parents to say no to enthusiastic young children who don’t understand the risk involved. There are many other ways for leadership development. There’s an appropriate age and time for different types of school trips.” — KareenLeow

4) “I sincerely urge MOE to commission a thorough review on the countries and necessity of such trips for “whatever valid reasons.” I am 100% sure if PM commission MOE for a COI, there will be 101 ways to improve on it.” — Freddy Choo

The MOE’s website states that there are several measures in place to enhance road safety around Singapore schools, as well as safety in the conduct of school sports, safety during hazy daystree safety, and fire safety. This page on guidelines and procedures onschool excursions (adapted from MOE Guidelines) states that “the authority to approve such excursions [and/or field trips] is delegated to principals.”

This was not an excursion organised by parents as an out-of-school overseas trip. If it were, then the responsibility for the safety of the children would fall on the parents and not other authorities who approved the excursion.

The website of The Department of Education and Training (Victoria, Australia) clearly states a policy to “ensure [school] excursions are planned and approved appropriately.” It goes on to say that the excursion planning and approval process should take into account “the suitability of the environment and/or venue for the excursion,” and the “assessment of excursion risks” in terms of safety, emergency and risk management.

A quick glance at the Dutch ministries states that The Ministry of Security and Justice is responsible for justice and public safety in the Netherlands.

Minister for Education Mr HengSweeKeat’s and PM Lee HsienLoong’s public statements on the matter — despite their emotional appeal — leave much to be desired.

A government’s job is to govern (i.e. to make and administer the public policy and affairs of a state). Singapore’s ministers are among the best paid in the world.

Surely they can thus be expected to be responsible and be held accountable when it comes to governance.

PAP DOES NOT MONOPOLISE TALENT, STOP BEING A PAP APOLOGIST

Some people think that opposing for the sake of opposing only comes from the opposition's side. Little did they know that it goes both ways.

There are also people that oppose the alternatives just for the sake of opposing. Just to maintain the status-quo no matter how erroneous some policies are.

This is the result of one party rule. People begin to believe in the ruling party's propaganda.

I remembered a particular conversation with one of my lady bosses that i worked with. I was jolted by the idea that she believes no one outside of the PAP is competent enough. She ask point blank, "who do we replace the PAP with?"

Not only is this statement troublesome. It is inane. The PAP does not hold monopoly on talent. It certainly is not indispensable. In fact, her thoughts showed how people within the PAP has turned into a group-think.

Countries all over the world changes government every now and then. Some to the detriment. Some for the benefit. Many are becoming an apologist for the ruling party.

FT DOCTOR FINED $2000 FOR WRONGLY ADMINISTERING CHEMO DRUGS

32 year-old Dr Garuna Murthee Kavitha administered a chemotherapy drug the wrong way, putting her patient at a serious risk of "severe neurological damage" after she injected the drug into the membrane of the spinal cord, instead of feeding it intravenously to the patient. For her lapses, she was fined $2,000 and censured by the Singapore Medical Council (SMC).

Dr Kavitha was practicing as a Medical Officer with the Singapore General Hospital at the time of her lapse, and is still currently with the hospital. The SMC hearing was convened on 21st April this year, but was published today on the SMC website.

According to the hearing documents, Dr Kavitha made her error because the ward had sent her the wrong medicine, which Dr Kavitha did not check. She pleaded guilty to a single charge under Section 53(1)(d) of the Medical Registration Act.

In her defense, lawyers argued that Dr Kavitha did not intend for the error to happen and stressed that she had taken responsibility and informed the hospital of her error immediately. They argued that Dr Kavitha was a young doctor at that time who had learnt from this incident. In contrast, more senior doctors in previous SMC hearing cases had tried to cover up their mistakes and not disclose their mistakes to patients, with some even tampering with medical records.

Dr Kavitha's superiors, colleagues and feedback from the family of another patient were also submitted at the hearing. The SMC also took into account Dr Kavitha's Best Medical Officer award accorded at the SingHealth Best Junior Doctors and Medicine Scholarship Awards in 2013.

Her defense lawyers also attempted to persuade the hearing to not publicize a record of the proceedings during the hearing so as to protect Dr Kavitha's reputation. Their suggestion was rejected by the SMC board as there has been no such precedent where a SMC hearing report was not disclosed to the public.

I WAS WRONGLY ACCUSED OF BEING ARROGANT AND THREATENED BY FORMER EMPLOYEES

Editor's note: The letter below was submitted in response to a screenshot posted on our Facebook page. The person who sent the screenshot accused this lady of being arrogant and looking down on poor people in Singapore. She suspects the screenshot was submitted by an unhappy former employee at her father's business, who was terminated for having a bad working attitude. Read what started the whole incident in her letter below.

Hi A.S.S.,

I am the person mentioned in a recent post on your Facebook page.

As posted, I merely explained myself as a young adult who wants to come out to the working society. I've met lots of criticism and humiliation but I'm working hard to try earn my own living. My dad pampers me, yes. But instead of just relying on his monthly allowance for me, I rather help him with his business which hopefully, in the future will be mine too.

The screenshot was sent by a former employee with a really bad attitude. Other then a personal friendship, business is business and the bosses couldn't let them continue working like that. They even threaten to have me beaten outside after their termination, assuming it's my fault that they we're unable to carry on working.

I feel that I am lucky to be one of those who come from a better family and using that as an advantage to have a better future instead of partying all day and spending money. As my post writes, my dad has paved a road for me. Why should I not take up the opportunity that he has given me?

Several netizens have submitted questions about a "red cloud" in the western sky in Singapore. Some netizens wondered if the redness in the sky was because of a massive fire at one of the factories on Jurong Island, or chemicals being spewed out of gas chimneys from one of the factories there.

According to one netizen who called the NEA, the red cloud comes from an incinerator plant operating on Pulau Bukom at night. The light from the blaze brightens up the darkened sky and causes a "red cloud" to appear over western Singapore.

TEACHER: IF I WERE TO DIE DOING MY JOB, I KNOW I HAVE NO REGRETS

$

0

I was on a geographical Investigation with a group of Sec 4 and Sec 5 students over the weekend when the earthquake happened at Mt K. We were following the news and prayed that the teachers and students were found. Our hearts were broken when it was confirmed that they had perished. As fellow educators who organise overseas trip regularly, we can understand the sacrifice that their families have made each time they send us off to yet another overseas trip.

In my 30 years as a geography teacher, I have brought students to Bali countless time to visit a volcano called Mt Batur. We would enter the volcanoes and visit a village populated with Bali Aga. I have also brough students to  KawahPutih, an extraordinary crater lake inside a volcanic crater about 50 km south of Bandung in Indonesia. I have brough students to many  beaches, cliff, tectonic folds and fault, far too many to recount here.

Some keyboard warriors have made very unkind, uninformed comments regarding this tragedy. I would like to address some of these issues as I believe I am a reliable source, having been a geographical educator who brings students out almost every year.

Are all these trips paid holiday for us teachers? Paid yes for some teachers. Some school leaders insist that teachers have to pay for part of the cost. I am blessed to have my overseas trips paid for by my principal each time  I bring my students out.

Holiday? No. The preparation start at least 6 months earlier when we have to submit proposal paper to justify our trip. When the trip is approved, the administrative nightmare begins from getting quotation for the trip to the evaluation of the quotes.

Once the trip is approved, we have to do Risk Assessment for the trip. This range from checking and ensuring that the vehicles we used are safe to checking for the weather, and if we are going to earthquake prone place or a volcanic area to check on the USSG website to keep us up to date with the tectonic forces that are currently moving in this region.

Checking the weather daily is a foregone conclusion. For example during my last trip to Malacca, we check the satellite map to help us make informed  judgement to see  if we should proceed with our activity,

We need to collect consent forms, forms to download money form students Edusave account, forms to be sent to Min of Foreign Affairs, forms to send to the tour agent and forms for insurance.. We give safety briefing to the students and parents. We remind students about the things to look out for when they are oversea before the trip and during  the trip.

Once we are on our way, we seldom have a moment of rest. We are constantly counting the numbers of students to ensure that we have the required number. When they are walking we have to ensure that they do not think the roads belong to them. We have to ensure that they are hydrated and so we have to see that they drink enough water daily. If they do not like the local food we will have to ensure that they are still fed. When they are in the hotel at night, we check that they are in their rooms and not be up to any tricks. We are their money changers, nurses,  consultants and often their waiters. We can relax only when each and every one of our students come back and we hand them over to their parents.

We seldom get thanked for organizing such trip. Not from the Ministry of Education nor from our school leaders as it is expected of us educators.Parents seldom thank us as they believe that this is our job scope. Not from the students as they believe that this is part of their learning experience.

So why do I continue to do this every year?

Why do I leave my own family behind? Why do I forsake my warm comfortable bed?

Have you heard the thunderous sound of a pounding destructive wave that crushes majestically on to a beach that is at least 500 m wide? Words would not be enough, textbook can only paint pat of the picture, YouTube and pictures cannot replace the experience of just standing there to listen to such destructive waves.

130 ha farm

130 ha farm

Have you seen a farm that is over 130 ha in Singapore? The largest we have in Singapore is only about 4 to 5 ha.

10247311_10152172895142709_2842460739536236686_nWhere in Singapore can you find a cliff that is over 100 m tall and watch the waves wear away the rock at the bottom of the cliff? Singapore is a very small place that offer very limited scope for us to explore geographically.

Can you see the studnets?

Can you see the students?

Travel a short distance to Johore and you can see exposed folds. Travel up to Kuantan and you can hear deafening waves.

Of course I cannot speak about the leadership programme for Mt K.

But I can speak on behalf of my colleagues who have organised such overseas experiences, be it the Japan Exchange Programme, the Vietnam Globalisation Partnership Programme or the Geographical Investigation to Bali or even the trip to Mt K.

Processes have been put in place to ensure the safety of our students and Singapore teachers being kiasu we would often take extra precaution way beyond the call of duty. It is not surprise that one teacher in Mt K  used his body to shield students from huge rocks that slid down the mountain.(Link)

The public may proclaimed him a hero but I am sure he would say it is  part of his job, his duty and given the chance he would still go back to Mt K.

Another reason why we teacher organise these trips is because in many neighbourhood schools, not many students can travel over seas to far away places like Europe or USA.

Fortunately, there is the TIE (Trip for International Experiences) fund that is used to subsidize these trips. If students are under financial assistants, we can even use the Opportunity Fund to help them.

However.there were times when our students were so poor that even with these funds, they could not afford to go as they have no money to apply for passports. Often the teachers would chip in to get the passports for them.

So to the keyboard warriors who do not have the complete picture, I would like to suggest that you stop and reflect, gather more information,(may be share this link) and not post such negative comments. The least you can do is not post for doing nothing is still something.

As for us teachers, we will continue to put ourselves on the line and bring our students overseas. My only fear is that parents and society will over react and not support us.

To our families who so willing let us go overseas during the holidays, we know that you will not rest until we are back home. We appreciate the sacrifice you make for sharing our time and life with other people’s children.

If we were to die while doing our job, we know that we have no regrets  as we are in the business of changing lives.

LETTER TO PARENTS WHO LOST THEIR CHILDREN ON MOUNT KINABALU

Dear parents of the children lost at Sabah,

I cannot even begin to imagine the pain, the anger, the anguish, the numbness that you must be feeling right now.

You are living out the reality of our biggest collective fear as parents. I lose sight of my child for one moment in the playground and I can barely breathe; the very idea that I may not lay my eyes on her again leaves me paralyzed. You have had your children taken from you so tragically, so suddenly. This is perhaps the darkest a parent’s life can get.

And I know that perhaps, at this moment, you are not ready for our condolences, our sympathies, our solidarity. But I want you to know that you do not mourn alone. As a mother, I weep with you for your child; I understand your pain, I understand your anger, I understand your helplessness.

I know that you will relive your decision to send them to Kota Kinabalu moment after moment. I know that you will hold yourself responsible for the loss of your child. You will ask yourself: Why did I say yes?

S'PORE AIRLINES PENALIZING CUSTOMER FOR TRYING TO AVOID MERS-HIT SOUTH KOREA

$
0
0

Several months ago, my daughter bought an air ticket from Singapore Airlines (SIA) to travel to South Korea.

She understood that it was a promotion ticket, which meant it came with conditions should she change her flight plan or date.

However, with the increasing rate of Middle East respiratory syndrome (Mers) infection and deaths in South Korea, she has rightly decided to postpone her travel, or maybe redirect the ticket to another destination ("Jump in Mers cases in S. Korea as 6th patient dies"; yesterday).

This is not a frivolous change of mind.

Imagine the shock and dismay when SIA gave her these options:

Take a $285 refund out of the $800 she paid for the ticket to cancel the trip, or
Pay an additional $889 on top of the $800 she already paid to postpone the trip.

According to the airline, this is the policy when there is no government advisory against travel to a particular destination.

My question is this: Do we need a rule cast in black and white to tell us it is not safe to travel to a particular place in the next two months?

What message are we sending to people who are trying to be responsible by not travelling to a Mers-hit country, so as not to bring the virus back to Singapore?

My daughter has an underlying heart condition, too, and we fear for her well-being.

We are not asking to cancel the ticket, but to enable redirection to another destination, so why the punitive charges?

Do we really want people to fly to South Korea now?

Unity Primary School in Choa Chu Kang is suffering from a rat infestation in its staff room and teachers have been urged to be on guard against rats.

In a circular dubbed "Exercise: Goodbye Rats", it advised teachers to stay away from the staff room while a pest control from Dynamic Pest Control tackles the problem.

According to reports from the press, rat droppings and pee could be found on teacher's tables and this problem has been ongoing for several months. Some even discovered that the rodents bit through plastic containers to eat their food.

Despite glue traps and rat poison being used, the problem persisted. Apart from the staff room infestation, some rat faeces have been spotted in the classroom as well. Teachers are now advised to not consume, keep or dispose of room in the staff room so that the problem can be eliminated.

Pest control in the staff room is in full swing.

TKPS PUPIL: ONE DAY I'LL RETURN TO TRY MOUNT KINABALU AGAIN

Tanjong Katong Primary School (TKPS) school prefect Chantal Phuay was part of a group of 29 TKPS pupils on a trip to Mount Kinabalu. Just before Chantal's group was about to start on the Ferrata route, the earth began to shake uncontrollably.

According to her, "rocks fell. Everyone started gathering. Then a rock or tree fell on us and everything went pitch black. Maybe I fainted, I have no idea."

When she finally regained consciousness, she followed instructions to move down the mountain. Despite her wobbly legs, she was only worried about getting down and if she could ever see her parents another time. When she reached base camp, they did a headcount and discovered who was missing. Chantal felt a sense of guilt that she did not help out and simply followed the teacher's commands to escape.

When surviving TKPS pupils see one another at their schoolmates' funeral wakes, they comfort one other. Chantal added that "one day, I'll go to Mount Kinabalu and try it again just to ensure that the TKPS spirit continues."

PRC MAN SUING ACTRESS VICKI ZHAO WEI FOR HER INTENSE STARE ON TV

A PRC man has sued famous PRC actress Vicki Zhao Wei because he says he could not endure her intense star through his TV set, causing "spiritual damage".

The PRC man says that he was watching the prime time show Tiger Mom when the staring incident occurred. Vicki stars in that drama, where she plays a woman who struggles to raise her daughter with her husband.

The Shanghai Puting district court has not said whether it would accept the case. An anonymous official however has blasted the case as a waste of public resources.

Unhappiness from officials and the PRC public have emerged recently after government regulations made it more difficult for PRC courts to reject claims and cases since 1st May. Courts must now provide clear reasons for their rejections of claims and the public have the right to appeal these decisions. The changes have resulted in a 29% increase in cases compared with last year.

The cases now handled by PRC courts numbers at over a million cases per year, according to the PRC supreme court.

MINISTER INDRANEE RAJAH: TRAGEDY REMINDED ME WHAT IT MEANS TO BE S'POREAN

On this National Day of Remembrance, it was brought home to me once again what it means to be Singaporean.

This day was for us to remember those who died in the Sabah quake -Terrence (the teacher), Daanish (the adventure guide) and Peony, Ameer, Emilie, Matahom, Rachel and Sonia (the students), while we hope against hope for Mohammad Ghazi and Navdeep Singh who are still missing.

At the SEA Games, we scored golds, including getting our first ever netball gold yesterday, and breaking the 50m freestyle record today.
Happiness mingled with sadness.

I visited Sonia's wake today. I was touched by her family's strength and fortitude. Her parents mourned her death but they also celebrated how much she achieved in her young life. They said to know her was to love her.

In their grief, they generously remembered others, making it a point to tell Minister Heng Swee Keat and myself how much they appreciated the support from the principal and teachers of TKPS, as well as the MOE team in Sabah, with an especial word of thanks for DS Lim Boon Wee, and to the SAF for bringing them and Sonia home.
Her mum said Sonia was an avid netball player. She played Wing Defence. She had attended the first few matches of our national netball team in the SEA Games to cheer them on before leaving for Sabah and was sorry that she was going to miss the netball final because of her trip.

Her uncle told me that our national netballers came to see Sonia today. They came to show their support for family of the girl who had supported them. They gave Sonia the hexagonal light medallion from the SEA games pack, signed with their names - so she now has her own SEA games netball "medal". Their thoughtful gesture and solidarity for Sonia meant a lot to the family.

Also attended Terrence's wake this evening. CNA reported a parent as saying that Terrence had "helped a bunch" before going back up again to help others. His selflessness saved others. His family can be proud of him, even as they mourn him. Friends, NS mates, ex-students, teacher colleagues, neighbours and relatives were all there to lend support the family.

This reminded me anew what it means to be Singaporean - strength, courage, duty, kindness - and being there for each other, in joy or sorrow, good times and bad. This is what it is to be part of the Singapore family.

Dear A.S.S,

DATA REGISTER aka COMPANY REGISTER just called me chasing for "outstanding bills" again with handphone number +65-31587446

They said that if I don't pay, I will incur interest and they also threatened to find debt collectors to collect the money from me.

In the background, I can hear the other operators calling a lot of people and using the same tactic to scare business owners.

I asked for formal email to my company address. Let's see what stunt they pulling again.

Authorities please do something and media pick up this news!!! This is too much already so many years nothing done.

What is the Singapore Police Force and ACRA doing!?

Local SME owner

Editor's Note: Data Register aka Company Register Pte Ltd is fraudulent company that lists businesses on their website without the permission of the business owners. After they list the businesses on their website, they call the owners and demand payment for listing their businesses online. If business owners do not pay up, they harass them with threats, emails, calls and spam. In other cases, they claim to be a company affiliated with ACRA and threatened that if business do not register with them and pay them a fee, their businesses will be delisted and they will not be able to operate legally in Singapore.

In January last year, ACRA brought charges against Data aka Company Register Pte Ltd. The case is still before the courts and there has been no further update since Jan 2014.
