Dear Editors,
With the influx of PRCs into Singapore, I realised the vast gap in social values that they have from the Singaporean Chinese. We, who are borned, worked, strived and lived in Singapore for so many years, have have developed and share certain social 'norms'. We have also learnt to accept and respect Singaporeans of other ethnicities as our equal. PRCs from China only know one ethnicity - chinese
Just because PRCs looked like Singaporean Chinese , they are NOT the same. Do not assume they can just 'blend in'. It is shocking to find them hanging laundry in the public playground, let their children urinate wherever they like, my neighbor (PRC) even hang their laundry all the way in front of my main door, and now they are showing symptoms of racism.
How is Singapore going to move forward with such impending social issues? People get together as one because we hold the same values, not because we 'look' alike. I hope the PRCs learn our Singapore values if not, these social tensions errupt. If not best they do not enter our country.
