MOE REJECTS NUS MUSIC GRADUATE AMIS APPLICATION BECAUSE HE DID NOT PROVIDE ABRSM GRADE 5 QUALIFICATION

An NUS music graduate looking to renew his Arts and Music Instructor Scheme (AMIS) licence has been rejected by the Ministry of Education because he did not furnish them with at least an The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) grade 5 qualification even though he attached his Bachelor of Music degree as his highest professional music qualification.

An ABRSM grade 5 is equivalent to GCSE 'O' levels.

Does MOE think that a music degree from our local university is not as good as a lesser qualification from a UK examinations board? What do you think?

"Dear Ministry of Education, I attached my Bachelor of Music degree from NUS under "Highest Professional Music Qualifications" and you ask me for ABRSM GRADE 5??? You are worse than parents who ask for music teachers with GRADE 8. No wonder our music education scene suck and will continue to suck. Because we have wonderful brains behind the scene."
