After having deployed unmarked black-coloured cars and motorcycles to catch errant drivers and riders, the Traffic Police are looking to install new police speed laser cameras in 44 accident prone and high risks locations.
The 44 locations include Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 towards Upper Thomson Road, East Coast Parkway towards Airport, Nicoll Highway (both directions) and Upper Bukit Timah Road towards Jalan Anak Bukit.
These new cameras are reported to be able to capture sharper images regardless if it is daytime or night time. Compared to the current camera, the new ones are able to detect vehicles further away. They can only detect both the front and back registration plates.
Currently, the cameras cannot capture drivers' faces.
