GE2020: PAP's Jessica Tan Thought Makcik Wear Tudung to Look Pretty

$

PAP East Coast candidate Jessica Tan, aka upside-down mask woman, embarrassed herself once again when during a house visit, she failed to understand why the makcik declined to take a photo with her when she was not wearing a Tudung.

Insisting on a photo, she said “No need la pretty already!” Xia suay.

Jessica Tan then sent the daughter of the makcik who wrote about the incident on Twitter an apology. Did she really think an apology could save her image? Well, it is obvious the daughter is not satisfied.

After so many years of house visits and interacting with the Malay community during grassroots activities, as an MP one would expect her to have a basic level of understanding regarding on Malay Muslim issues. However, from this incident, she has shown us that she is shallow and is only interested in taking photo to post for publicity.

This is a disappointing standard PAP has set for its MPs. Do they need to do a racial and religious harmony module all over again?

GE2020: Police Report Made On Murali Pillai For His "Scurrilous Attack" Video

$

On 30 June after filing his nomination papers, Murali Pillai made a video on his Facebook page claiming there is this "scurrilous attack" post which surfaced "minutes after election has been declared in Bukit Batok SMC." Murali Pillai admitted how he failed as a father as he described how this alleged post splashed out details of his criminal son was a victim of a scandal. Murali Pillai said the timing of this alleged leak left nothing to imagination, implying it was related to his intent to re-contest in Bukit Batok SMC.

Curiously no one online had seen any evidence of this "scurrilous attack" post. Even through netizens' crowdsourcing, there was a mysterious absence of any such post. Naturally this led to mounting rumours about this "scurrilous attack" post being a fabrication or imaginary. Could it have been fake news?

A concerned citizen informed All Singapore Stuff that he had filed a police report against Bukit Batok PAP candidate Murali Pillai. According to the report, the concerned Singaporean took issue with Murali Pillai for his video about the "scurrilous attack" on his family and son. This person also claimed he forwarded the police report to the POFMA office for them to follow up.

GE2020: WP Png Eng Huat Exposes The Civil Service For Addressing Unelected PAP Loser As MP Of Hougang

Former MP of Hougang Mr Png Eng Huat has taken to his Facebook to reveal how the civil service is not as non-partisan as they claim to be.

He said that residents have received letters and replies from Ministry of Education and Minitry of Social And Family Development, which say that the losing and unelected PAP candidate Lee Hong Chuan is the MP of Hougang SMC. He said that he doesn't blame the civil servants, but questioned why there was no attempt by the PAP to correct these errors over time.

"The PAP had come up with the Grassroots Advisor scheme to perverse the one-man-one-vote system so that its losing candidate will remain relevant and visible, despite not having the mandate to run the constituency."

This is another insidious way in which the PAP tries to hold on to power. If you're sick and tired of dirty politics by the PAP, make your vote count. Vote them out.

Owner Of Nightmare Unit At Belvia DBSS Frustrated With Inaction By Authorities

A Facebook user has come forward with multiple complaints about their new Bedok DBSS unit which turned out to be a nightmare to live in. Since moving in from 2015, the DBSS owners have been plagued with building faults which ultimately led to the unit having deplorable conditions.

The owners provided numerous photos showing various issues like their floor pooling with water when their neighbour below switches on the aircon while taking hot showers, foul odours and sewage seeping into their bathroom whenever their immediate neighbours excrete, bacteria entering their potable water pipes and microbial growth on their bathroom walls.

In some instances, these microbes allegedly caused skin irritation to the point where surgery was needed to remove a growth due to a related infection. They have resorted to buying 20 to 30 bottles of clean water for their basic survival ever since their bath and kitchen water pipes had been exposed to a bacterium which causes food poisoning and diarrhea.

To make matters worse, the owners had tried reaching out countless times to various authorities such as the DBSS developer, Town Council, Housing Development Board (HDB), Public Utilities Board (PUB). However their problems and tortures allegedly went unheard or appeared to be brushed aside. In Aug 2019 the desperate owners went ahead to see MND Minister Lawrence Wong during his Meet-the-People Session. Even though Lawrence Wong promised to get BCA, PUB and HDB to look into their housing woes, no one has contacted the owners for almost a year.

They have also called out PM Lee Hsien Loong and Maliki Osman, the mayor of southeast district, for failing to deliver on their promise of safety and security for Singapore citizens. If her story is true, there is a clear lack of accountability and social responsibility in refusing to attend and solving the housing defects of these owners, a problem which has been tormenting them for five years.

GE2020: ELD Cock-Up, Woman Unable to Vote

$
0
0

ELD has yet another cock-up to answer for. It is a serious matter that a voter was unable to cast her vote as an eligible voter because the system apparently reflected that she has voted.

When the woman went to the polling station to scan her NRIC, the system reflected that she has voted. She then informed the staff that she suspected an error and she was given a blue voting slip to cast her "vote".

She found out later that the blue voting slip was only to assist in follow-up investigations and would not be treated as an official vote. Realising her voting access has been obstructed, she made a police report.

ELD must come clean. When an eligible citizen cannot exercise the right to vote, it is a violation of democracy.

There have already been several reported cases of polling agents telling elderly voters who to vote for on polling day. We cannot tolerate such actions which affect the integrity of the electoral system, especially when the ELD is under PMO. Incidents like these just serve to put the credibility of those who wear white in question.

SingTel Customer Almost Had His Phone Number Hacked

$

A Facebook user shared his personal experience on a new scam tactic. He recounted how his SingTel mobile number was strangely terminated without his consent, and this was due to a hacker trying to takeover his number. These hackers were using a scam called SimSwap.

It seems that hackers had collected his personal information through various channels, and later pretended to be him while requesting SingTel to terminate his number. The hacker may have tried to contact the victim later as he explained "The hacker can’t tell if my number was terminated, at least within the first day. Even though my number was terminated, I told the hacker it wasn’t and he believed me. The hacker seems to need the code on my end to complete the takeover? He was willing to pay me money for it haha." The hackers transact via bitcoin so there is probably no way to trace them.

If the victim had fallen into the hackers' trap and handed over his number, they could access his 2FA to reset all his bank and Singpass passwords. This might then be used to collect ransom from their victims?

According to the Facebook user, SingTel staff have not heard of this scam before and did not know how to react. The police officer who attended to this case mentioned this was the first case he knew about. SingTel is currently investigating this incident.

He claims that the only way to prevent this case could be to opt-in for "No Phone (or something along these lines)" which prevents anyone from modifying your contracts and plans over the phone and that customers have to go down to the physical shop to settle these changes.

Son Makes Online Appeal To Identify Woman Who Attacked Elderly Taxi Driver

$

A Facebook user has asked for help to identify a lady who allegedly assaulted his elderly father who is a taxi driver in his 70s. Unfortunately the woman fled the scene before the police arrived. The incident happened on 15 July 2020 at Prinsep Street.

The elderly taxi driver had picked up the woman along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 beside Block 417. The lady then asked to borrow the taxi driver's mobile phone, and she apparently made numerous calls over a 17 minute duration. At one time, she got into a heated argument over a call.

When they finally arrived at Prinsep Street, the woman returned the taxi driver's phone but instructed him to "wait here" even though she was requested to make payment for the taxi fare. The taxi driver found her behaviour suspicious and decided to follow the lady from a distance. It was during this time when the alleged attacks happened to the driver.

Less than half a minute after following the lady, she allegedly swung her arm at the driver. This was followed by a subsequent attack where the lady supposedly swung a pizza board at the elderly driver. the woman then went back to the taxi in an attempt to fling the cab's NETS machine at the driver.

The woman was able to escape from the scene before the police arrived. While the incident is pending police investigation, the son of the elderly taxi driver has made an online appeal for eye witnesses to step forward.

Opinion: The Workers Party Should Develop "One Service" App For Its Town Councils

$
0
0

On 10 July 2020, residents of Sengkang GRC voted for The Workers Party (WP) to represent them in Parliament and also to handle their municipal matters. In that context WP has announced that there will be a stand alone Sengkang GRC Town Council and the chairperson is Elected MP Ms He Ting Ru.

I foresee a problem here when it concerns municipal matters like littering, fused lightings, water ponding, tree and shrubs pruning. PAP has a Municipal Office App called "One Service" where residents can take photographs and report such matters for action. Although many a times cases submitted are closed before the matter is successfully handled. Now that WP is the duly elected representatives for Sengkang GRC, will PAP be gracious enough to allow residents to continue reporting municipal matters to One Service App?

Keep in mind that monthly Service & Conservancy Charges (S&CC) are paid to the respective Town Councils, which under the Town Council Act states must not be affiliated to any specific political party and be allowed to be managed by the elected representatives. I am of the opinion that PAP will make it difficult for residents to highlight such matters by directing the residents to report directly to WP.

May I suggest that WP designs a similar app to report municipal matters for Aljunied & Sengkang GRCs and Hougang SMC so that residents in their respective WP Town Councils can submit cases to for prompt action. I hope WP will implement this humble suggestion of mine.

Thank you
Mr Paul A. Fernandez

Manulife Allegedly Deducts Money From Netizen's Bank Account Even Though Premiums Paid

$

A frustrated All Singapore Stuff reader allegedly got money deducted from her bank account by Manulife insurance even though she supposedly paid the whole year's worth of premium. These insurance policies were bought by her ex-husband. Even though the ex-husband is in a coma, Manulife allegedly refused to reveal anything about her son's policies which were bought by this ex-husband.

This reader faced a previous issue with Manulife when her ex-husband allegedly did not pay these insurance policies for three years. Manulife sent in letter reminders and SMS to her without indicating full policy numbers and the outstanding amount. When she did not manage to pay the outstanding amount, she claims Manulife kept adding interest onto these payments.

The frustrated reader eventually wrote in to MAS (Monetary Authority of Singapore) regarding this alleged lack of oversight over insurance companies and how they manage payments. She urges netizens to check their bank accounts to see if the premium deductions tally with what was previously agreed upon with the insurance companies.

Incessant Drilling Of Home Renovations Disturb Punggol Resident Who Have To Work From Home

$

Dear Editor,

I live in Punggol Drive Blk 666B and this loud drilling from the level above has occurred since days ago and starts at 9am, sometimes even ending at 8pm. I literally have to wake up to drilling everyday and it is annoying because I have to work from home.

I cannot even speak during online meetings because no one hears me.

The government wants us to stay at home as much as possible, but they still allow renovations to occur? I know this may seem like a small issue, but drilling for prolonged periods of time can really give the residents unnecessary stress, especially when the whole level can hear the drilling. (would have attached a video of the sound but can’t)

I hope the government will be able to come up with a better solution for those of us who have to work from home, that we can do so in peace.

Looking for eyewitness.

On 21st July 2020 around 6.30 to 6.45pm, a 13 year old boy got injured after being pushed by a jogger. The boy was riding his bike along Punggol Promenade Riverside Walk Park (shared path for joggers and cyclists) near the toilet towards Sengkang Road. When the boy reached the bridge, he slowed down to overtake in the middle. This was when a jogger allegedly pushed the boy in the face.

The boy suffered injuries to his hand and leg, and his groin area was hurt too. A few kind passersby helped the boy up but the jogger escaped towards the Punggol "Red Bridge" (towards Lorong Halus). The jogger was described to be a "Chinese guy around 30s-40s plus in black short & black tshirt."

A police report has been made by the boy's mother.

OSIM Salesperson Allegedly Backtracks On Agreement Over Massage Chair And Considers Forfeiting Purchase

A contributor was at an Expo exhibition last year (2019) when they saw an OSIM massage chair. They felt it was a worthwhile purchase and went ahead to discuss with a sales lady. They eventually made the purchase based on an agreement that the massage chair will be delivered only after the contributor's HDB BTO was ready.

During the sales process, the salesperson allegedly reassured them OSIM will be able to hold the sales order till their flat is ready. The sales lady instructed them to place a small deposit and they can contact OSIM later for delivery at a much later date.

However about a year later on July 2020, the salesperson reached out to the contributor through WhatsApp. According to screenshots of their conversation, the salesperson asked the contributor to make full payment at their Bedok branch. She also said that if the contributor was unable to make full payment, she will forfeit the sales order.

The contributor was caught unaware by how this salesperson had allegedly backtracked on their agreement, and asked to speak with her manager. Till now the OSIM manager has not contacted the contributor even though the sales lady promised she will get the manager.

Ubi Avenue Landlord Withholds Tenant's $3000 Deposit After Lease Ended

$

A contributor wants to warn others who are intending to rent an office space in Ubi Centre. According to screenshots sent to us, the Ubi landlord allegedly did not return the tenant's deposit after the 2-year lease was over. The tenant has been chasing for the $3000 deposit since August 2019, but the landlord has been making excuses that he "has no money to return" even though he has rented out four other office spaces.

Below is her story

======================================

Please help to share this post if you are intending to rent an office in Ubi Centre.

This post is regarding to the landlord who did not return the deposit to the tenant after the lease finished.

I rented an office in 57 Ubi Ave 1, Ubi Centre #06-xx for two years. By right, my contract should end on the 31 August 2019 but due to the landlord mixed up with the dates, I ended up returning him one month earlier which is on 30th July 2019. The new tenant came in 4 days earlier before 1st August due to 7th month lunar calendar.

I passed the new tenant the rest of the keys(extra keys & letter box keys) on the 1st day August. Everything seems to be alright as the landlord did not mention any repairs that need to be made and since the new tenant has already moved in.

I messaged the landlord since August 2019 regarding on my deposit. Everytime I will be told he has no money to return me. ( Please note he has four offices to collect rental every month)

The contract stated the deposit of $3000 has to be return to me within 14 days of returning the keys.

I have lodged a police report on 16th Sept 219 but was told that the police do not handle such dispute , the police advised me to consult the lawyer on lease dispute.

I consulted the lawyer and was charged $300 for the first lawyer letter . Despite the lawyer letter sent to him, he did not returned my deposit. Further consultation with the lawyer will cost more then $2000 to let the lawyer take action.

On Nov 2019 he suggested to return me the deposit by instalment of $500 per month.( seriously I have never accounted such landlord who wants to pay by instalment for deposit, no money don’t be a landlord la). So far I have only received two payments of $500, meaning he still own me $2000.

On March 2020, he still got the cheek to tell me I did not pay for the aircon servicing and ask me for a discount of $1000. He will source for $1000 to return me only.

Anyway fast forward to this month, despite I asked for a $1500 instead of $2000, he has not returned my message since then.

This is a loop hole to such case because :

1) Police does not handle such case

2) Small claim Tribunal does not handle commercial lease claims

3) Lawyer consultation is too expensive

So what can a tenant do when the landlord does not return the tenant the deposit? No ways.

This person is also doing renovation works. So please be careful.

Covid19: MOM and MOH Should Be More Transparent In Reporting Race of Infected Covid Patients

$

0

Ever since the emergence of CO-VID 19 cases, I have observed a spike in racists comments online like on Facebook,Twitter and other social media platforms.

In most cases the racists comments are targeted at Indian Community which comprises of Foreign Workers from India, Bangladesh and local born and bred Singapore Citizens. It is an established fact that this virus which attacks all regardless of skin colour originated from Wuhan, Hubei province in China yet these racists comments blames the spike entirely on the Indian Community. I attributed this to the way MOH reports their daily CO-VID 19 cases which I receive every day past midnight.

In all these reports whenever the infected person is a Indian/Bangladesh Foreign Worker either residing in dormitories or in the community, their race is revealed. However when it is of another race, MOH will termed it as "Foreign Work Pass Holder".

Is MOH painting a picture that only the Foreign Indian Workers or Imported Cases from India are the sole culprits for the recent spike in infections ?

Is MOM and MOH painting a picture that in all of the 43 Purpose Built Dormitories (PBD) and Community; there is only Indian/Bangladesh work pass holders and no work pass holders from other countries like PRC, Myanmar etc ?

Has MOM and MOM forgotten the source of this virus ? Has our society forgotten that our Government allowed free access of PRC workers and tourists back into Singapore in the midst of Phase 1 when we are still in Circuit Breaker (CB) mode.

There was a case where a someone using the tweet handle "Sharon Liew88" who tweeted "appuneneh virus" When a police report was lodged, the person who tweeted that racists comment was arrested and to the shock of many it was not a Chinese but a Malay Man who is case is due for sentencing.

Lately there is a surge of imported cases from India and yesterday I read on FB comments such as "Thanks to CECA" and "India chased back their infected residents to Singapore where they work. In actual fact these imported cases chose to come back to Singapore as our country is known internationally to have the best medical facilities.

In order for these racists comments to stop as it may escalate to racial tension in our multi race and creed society, I urge MOM and MOH to be transparent in their daily reporting by categorising the race of the infected patients. In this way society at large will stop putting the blame squarely on the Indian community be it Foreign, Imported or Locals.

Deliveroo Accused Of Mistreating Its Delivery Riders

$

Dear All Singapore Stuff,

As a part time rider I have notice that Deliveroo has very inhuman treatment to drivers compare to other company like FoodPanda or GrabFood.

Deliveroo demands riders to reach from point to point within their computer estimated time and if rider fails they will send warning letter with obvious threats at the end to terminate our account if we don’t improve.

So may I ask if it is fair for someone on bicycle to reach customer within 30 mins after picking up the food when some distance of customer location can be up to 6.5KM. Also shouldn’t we take into facts the traffic, raining days and restaurant delay.

If we even try to debate or stand up for our self they will threaten us saying we are inappropriate in the way we talk.

Riders safety is the number one. But seems like Deliveroo just don’t care cause riders are robots that’s disposable.

Best Regards, Zhang

Man Speaks Up for Cleaner Ah Umm, Gahmen Agencies Contacted His Employer

$

What happens when you are a good samaritan writing about the an old auntie who still has to work hard as a cleaner to earn a living? Turns out, it is not the old lady the gahmen reaches out to, it is your employer they contact. Here's briefly what happened.

In a series of Instagram posts, the good samaritan wrote about his encounter with an ah umm (old lady) on the MRT. She wanted to get to Sentosa to find a higher-paying ($10/h) cleaner job as her current cleaner job at Tampines hub ($5/h) is barely enough for meals, transport and rent. Her husband has passed away and her only son died during an accident while serving NS.

She said "Government last time say will compensate us, one month give us $300. But then until now, where got? One cent I also never receive from them. Now national day coming, they ask us hang the flag. I don't want to hang. Hang for what? My son died for this flag. This flag also never help me".

The good samaritan eventually found out that the ah umm is 82 years old.

"Despite her age and despite how f*cked-over she is by this failure of a country, she wants to work MORE," he said. He also raised a point on the minimum wage - "This is why when people say shit like, 'but how will we pay for minimum wage?' I refuse to take their shit. We can absolutely afford to take care of people like her. $5/h is not a liveable wage. $5/h is a slave wage".

So why are ministers paid millions while the nation can't afford to support people like ah umm? The good samaritan summed it up nicely "No public servant in Singapore deserves to be paid $1M/year".

He reminded Singaporeans

"When you vote for the PAP because you want to show your gratitude to the party of LKY,

When you vote for the PAP because you are afraid that your future in the public sector might be endangered,

When you vote for the PAP because you want your GRC to have sheltered walkways and lift upgrading,

You probably forget that people like Ah Umm still exist. Don't forget about them. The future of our country is more than just your future".

Obviously, those paid millions are not happy with what they saw and in a Twitter update, the good samaritan said his employers were contacted by "people working in governmental agencies".

Gahmen efficiency is really top-notch when it comes to this kind of things. If only they can be more efficient in helping the needy.

WP MP Pritam Singh Will Donate 50% Of His Leader Of Opposition Salary

$

The Workers' Party (WP) MP Pritam Singh announced his gratuity for being given the title as Leader of Opposition. Pritam Singh informed that he will be receiving additional support like staff and remuneration to compensate his longer hours away from his family.

Pritam Singh shared a private moment where he and his wife discussed about his Leader of Opposition appointment. After putting his daughters to bed, Pritam Singh and wife spoke about his salary increase due to his position. While the money could have been used for their family, Mr and Mrs Pritam Singh both felt strongly that the money should be "used for a greater purpose".

On that note, Pritam Singh publicly declared his intention to donate 50% of his Leader of Opposition salary, after taxes. This amount works out to be about $96,000 per annum. He listed how the money will be allocated:

1. To assist low-income residents in WP-held wards of Hougang SMC, Aljunied GRC and Sengkang GRC through the WP Community Fund (WPCF) and/or the WP Grassroots Committee; or
2. Community programs in the same WP wards; or
3. Charitable or worthy causes; or
4. WP specific needs.

Even though Pritam Singh will be shouldering more responsibilities and spending less time with family, it is admirable how he has decided to take it upon himself to give back even more to the Singaporeans by generously donating 50% of his salary.

Former PAP NMP Calvin Cheng Slams Pritam Singh's Salary Donation As Wayang And Divisive Politics

$

PAP IB Calvin Cheng unleashed two Facebook posts to stir controversy over WP Pritam Singh's generosity for donating 50% of his salary. Calvin Cheng said Pritam Singh was participating in political theatre (wayang) by publicly announcing his salary donation while bringing up his family. Calvin Cheng said his donation was an "unnecessary sacrifice" and likened this move to a popularity contest to score political points.

Calvin Cheng carried on with fear-mongering about how politics is divisive, and accused Pritam Singh of "poison(ing) his political opponents, and divide the electorate" by making a public spectacle of his salary donation. Calvin Cheng claimed this public declaration only puts pressure on other politicians to follow suit.

Ironically Calvin Cheng mentioned in this Facebook post that his master Lee Hsien Loong "publicly donated 100% of his salary increase for the 5 years after 2007". However have Singaporeans seen any PAP MP feeling pressured into making similar salary donations publicly?

Calvin Cheng continued to defend the very-unpopular notion that Singapore's politicians need high compensation. He parroted how capable people will be deterred from stepping forward to serve the country because they will have to make public sacrifices. This argument rings hollow as Singapore's political opposition do not seem to have difficulty in recruiting and fielding very capable candidates in recent years.

Ho Ching Sends Cryptic Message After Leader of Opposition Pritam Singh Announces Salary Donation

$

0

When Pritam Singh announced he would be donating 50% of his salary, the all-noble and charitable Ho Ching was so surprised by his generosity that she wanted people to know that there are also people (ehem) who donate without making announcements.

Having shared PAP IB Calvin Cheng's post on this matter, she wrote this cryptic message on her Facebook:

"There are lots of folks who donated and continue to donate quietly, without making any public announcement. Some folks make public announcement of part of their donations, and still maintain privacy on the rest of their regular donations. Other continue to donate anonymously. Yet others put their donations into their wills. But of course, not all are angels. There are folks who will scheme to get money from others in their families, of friends, some by stealth, others by outright manipulation and cheating. Take all kinds - and only some may be caught by law. Everyone has to answer to their conscience, the Almighty, and their karma in time to come."

Is she trying to say that she herself is one of the many "folks who donated and continue to donate quietly"? Is she feeling jelly after Singaporeans praise Pritam Singh for his transparent donations while nobody is praising her or her husband?

If Ho Ching really wanted, she could make a public announcement on her donations too like her husband himself has done. However, looking at how she keeps her salary such a big secret, it seems the only way she can boast about her nobility is by writing such cyptic messages on her Facebook. How ironic that she is writing about donations made in secret.

Yes, karma will find those who manipulate and take money from poor citizens.

"Apparently the court has rendered judgement on my case today, and fined me $15,000 for a comment made to my friends on Facebook. I disagree with the judgement, and worry that it will reinforce the PAP's tendency to suppress ordinary political speech. In response to three words in a private Facebook post, the government has wasted three years of civil servants' time.

In a kind of cruel irony, the AGC has spent long hours lecturing me about my grandfather's values. The AGC is supposed to be an apolitical agency, even though the current attorney general was my uncle's personal lawyer.

As I was arranging my bookshelf the other day, I came across a gift from my childhood. (photo attached) Those were better times, before my uncle bullied his siblings and tore the family apart."

Those are strong words coming from Pinky's own nephew who will face jail if he does not pay the fine within two weeks. This was all for a Facebook post where Li Shengwu described the Singapore government as “very litigious and has a pliant court system”.

A bully to his family and a bully to his countrymen, the dishonourable son will fix whoever he wants and his nephew isn't spared, as long as the PAP is in power.
